"Welcome to Strike Bridal Bar here in Milwaukee. Is this your first time here?" The owner, Anna, says as she welcomes my mom, Alecia, Larisa, Maggie, and myself into her shop.

"Yes, it is. I believe you talked to Maggie on the phone last week," I say and bring Maggie toward me.

"Okay, well great! If you all would follow me back here we can get started." I look around at the thousands of dresses that are hung on multiple racks. This doesn't even feel real.

We all sit on the couch facing three mirrors that would give us a good look at the dresses from all of the angles. "Do we know what we're looking for?"

"So, I know I'm not really interested in a very full ball gown dress. I'm open to trying anything on. I would say no long sleeves or strapless. I think a deep V neck would look really nice. Open back. I think I would want a form-fitting top half and the flare out. But, as I said, I'm open to trying anything on."

"Do you want your guests to pull dresses too?"

"Yeah, that'd be great."

"Okay, well you all can look around and come back when you're ready, and then we can start trying them on."

We all nod and get up and start to walk around. I walk over to my mom as she fingers through all of the dresses. I hear her sniffle and turn toward her, "Mom, are you already crying? I thought you would at least hold out until I started trying them on."

"I know. I just can't believe this. Like, you're my baby and I'm just so happy for you." I hug her, "Mom," I laugh, "You're gonna make me start crying."

"I am not going to be able to handle this when you start trying them on. Have you found some that you want to try on?"

"Yeah, there's some hanging on a rack. There are so many options over there from the girls and I'm almost overwhelmed."

"I'll go put mine over there then." I smile and walk over to another rack where Larisa and Maggie were standing. "Do you think 'the one' is here?" Maggie asks me as she looks through the various dresses.

"Honestly, I don't know. I hope so. There are so many options to choose from. It'd be wonderful if it was that way and we'd only have to worry about fittings."

"I saw some dresses on the rack and I think you're going to love them. As you said, there's a lot, but I think you could definitely narrow it down."

"Can one of you take pictures so that I have them and can look through them when I want?"

"Girl, I was already planning on it," Larisa tells me and pulls out this beautiful mermaid-styled wedding dress. "What was Christian doing while this is going on?"

"Honestly, I don't know. We both ate breakfast that you came and picked Alecia and me up. I'm sure he's probably just lounging until game time."

"Are you guys set? I understand we're working under a slight time-crunch," Anna asks us. "Yeah, I think we're ready to get things going."

"Alright, you can follow me and we can get you into your first dress." I nod and go ahead and follow her back behind a curtain where all of the dresses that we're picked hang on a rack waiting to be tried on.

"Do you want to go in any certain order?"

I shake my head, "No, we can do whatever." This is like my nightmare. I'm not huge on shopping and trying clothes on so this is just like a mess. I look around at the 10+ dresses that are picked out and mentally prepare myself to try every single one of them on.
