Brooklyn~
"Hey, do you have a minute?" Jordan asks coming into my office. "Uh, yeah, what's up?" I say turning my chair to face him more.
"Sorry if I made things awkward yesterday," he says and I just nod. What do you even say to that?
"No, you're fine. I get it, there was really no time for us to actually get to know each other. You were just kind of thrown into working so, you know it's fine."
He laughs, "Okay, I just wanted to make sure I didn't cross a line or anything." I don't think a line was crossed but I feel like it's known knowledge that Christian and I have been together since 2020. It's whatever. I'm just glad he didn't say something he might've regretted. I almost feel more awkward now rather than yesterday.
"Well, some of the guys are coming in so I'll be out there."
"I'll be out soon."
I turn back to my computer and go over some injury reports for some of the guys. "Hey," I jump at the sound of Christian's voice as he comes into my office. "Why are you so jumpy?"
"Didn't even see you come in." He sits down on the couch and watches me work. "Have you started to pack?" I ask him. We leave tomorrow night for St. Louis and we leave right after the game. He sighs, "No, I'll do it later or tomorrow morning. But, I know you haven't either, so I'm not alone."
I scoff, "I at least have my suitcase open with some clothes in it."
"You got me there."
"You need your wrists wrapped?"
"Yeah," I nod and stand up, walking out to the main area. I feel like he can tell I'm thinking about something but doesn't know what to say.
I stand beside him as it's the only comfortable way to actually do my job. "Why do you look uncomfortable?" he asks me.
"I'll tell you later," I say quietly and look around the room. "Do you have a sweatshirt? I didn't bring mine. They kicked on the A/C last night and I'm freezing."
"Yeah, I should have one. I'll go get it."
"Okay," he gets up and heads back to the clubhouse. I throw away all of the wrappers that I used and move onto the next guy.
"Hey, how are you?" I ask Lo as he sits on the next bed. "Pretty good. I'm glad to be playing again."
"Aren't we all," I smirk, "I'm just glad I can help out where I can now."
"We need you after last night. But, your leg has been feeling good? It's not tight or hard to jog?"
"Nope. I lightly worked out before I came in here so I could see where it was at. Feels good to be back."
"It's good to have you back in the lineup, Lo."
We continue to conversate with each other and joke around with each other. Lo's like the big teddy bear who has tons of jokes.
"Brooklyn," Christian says and I turn my head, "This is the only one I could find. Where do you want it?"
"On my chair. Thank you," I say and watch him toss it onto my chair. "I'll see you out there."
"Yep, you too."
"Lo, you're good to go. I already let Couns know that you've been cleared and can play, but I assume he probably put you in."
"Awesome. Thank you."
He walks out and I head to my office to put on the sweatshirt. It feels like fucking Antarctica in here. Maybe it's just me because this seems to not be affecting anyone else. I quickly put on the sweatshirt, which is way too big for me but it'll have to do for the time being. I roll my sleeves up and look at myself in the mirror and realize his sweatshirt is pretty much a dress on me. Now, this is a look.
