Okay, maybe I shouldn't have said that. That probably really freaked her out and now I know that's the only thing going to be on her mind now. I grab my keys from the counter and make my way to the park. The look on her face wasn't mad or angry, it was confused but also worried. I don't know, it was weird. It's something I haven't seen before.
It's weird having her not be here. I'm honestly lonely and she's been gone for a couple of hours. I don't know if there was a day that we haven't been together.
I slowly make my way to the clubhouse and sit down in my chair. Some of the other guys start to file in as I scroll through my phone and wait to start to get ready. I look down and see she's calling me. I answer the FaceTime and smile, "Hey, how was your flight?"
"Bumpy. I'm just waiting for the bus to come to pick me up."
"Are you doing anything today?"
She shakes her head, "No, we're just getting settled in tonight. I'll probably go to sleep in a few hours."
"You're not going to watch my game?"
She smiles, "Yes, I'm going to watch your game."
"Good. Some of the guys want to say hi." I flip my camera around and show some of the guys that are waving. "Hey, none of you get hurt. I don't really want to come back to that."
They all laugh, "We won't." She laughs as I turn the camera back to me, "I miss you."
She smiles, "I miss you, too. I was thinking about it and we haven't been apart for this long in a while."
"I know, it sucks."
She looks up and starts to move as I can hear her suitcase rolling on the cement, "I gotta go. If I'm still awake, I'll call you after your game."
"Okay, love you."
"Love you, too." We both hang up and I realize that wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I'm scared that she's thinking that I'm trying to make her agree to have a baby, which I'm not. I just wanted to see where she was at with the idea.
That was the worst game I've played in a while. I don't even know what happened. I struck out three times and had a flyout. I could barely make contact today. It was shitty, to say the least. "Dude, where was your head at today?" I hear as I sat in my chair, facing my locker. I turn around and see Ryan standing there with Carter. "Dude, what the hell? Why didn't you tell me you were here?"
"I wanted to surprise you guys. We were supposed to make it out for Opening Day but the kids got sick, so we didn't end up going. Where's Brooklyn? I went down to see her but only saw Jordan and Sarah."
"She's in Philly at a convention for the next few days. She gets back Saturday."
"Oh good, we leave Sunday afternoon. How's it been though?"
"Weird. The energy is still here, but it's just weird not having you here."
"But, you guys have been winning, so that's good."
"Not tonight, that was brutal."
"Yeah, what the hell happened to you guys." I shrug, "I don't know. It's just one of those nights, I guess."
He nods and I grab my stuff before we start walking out of the clubhouse. I see Larisa, Greyson, and Celine all gathered in the hallway. Greyson and Celine run up to my legs and attach themselves. "Hey, you two." I give Larisa a side hug as Greyson and Celine are still on my legs.
