Stopped Beating, Stopped Breathing.

Brooklyn~

Christian and I headed over to what is now our piece of land not even five minutes from our house. Collin is staying with Kayden while we meet with Alecia and the contractor. We're definitely insane about this, but I'm on board with the idea. This is my first time seeing the whole picture and see what both Christian and Alecia have been raving about.

"You ready to see this?" Christian asks me as we turn into the property. "Yeah, I can't wait to see what both of you have raved about."

"I think you're really going to love it."

We both get out and look around at the beautiful property. We were the first ones here so we looked around. Christian's right, I do love it. Everything about it. There's so much space and acreage I didn't even know was there. We go stand over by the edge and look out at the water.

"Do you guys like it?" Alecia says coming up from behind us. "It's so much better in person," I say as we both turn around to talk Alecia. "Right? He just should be here soon. Christian, did you bring the floor plan with you?"

"Yeah, it's in the car. I'll go grab it."

Christian walks back to the car and leaves us together, "Did it take much convincing?"

"No, I was in from the start. It makes the most sense for us."

"Just picking your brain right now, does this mean another grandbaby on the way soon?"

I laugh and shrug, "I wouldn't be opposed to it. Kayden's literally the definition of perfect, I mean how could I not? He was an angel when he was just born."

"He still is an angel who has his moments."

"I'm aware."

Christian walks back to us with the contractor next to him with the plans in his hands. Christian walks back over by me as Alecia and our contractor talk. They both turn to us, "Okay, so did you guys go over the layout of everything?" the contractor asks us.

"Yeah, a couple of nights ago we initially went over everything. Last night we looked at it again just to see if there was anything we really wanted to change or add," Christian tells him.

"Was there anything?"

"In the kitchen, we want to island to be the same width that is but make it a little longer toward the windows and do an overhang so we can have stools. I'm pretty sure that was it, everything else looked great."

"Okay, that's an easy add-in. So if everything is good to go, I will have you both sign these papers and we can get started as soon as possible. I'm hoping to get my crew out here by Wednesday so we can go over everything and possibly even start breaking the ground."

"Great! That's amazing! We're really excited."

"I am too. Oddly enough my family is huge fans of the Brewers. So this is pretty cool," he tells us as we walk over to our car so we can sign the papers.

"We appreciate it." Christian hands me the pen after signing his name and I go right under his and leave both of our phone numbers if anything were to come up. My heart just dropped into my stomach after I finished signing my name. We're doing this. Alecia looks it over before handing him back the papers, "Okay, looks good! We'll hopefully be here by Wednesday to start."

"Thanks, man!" Christian says and we both shake his hand and he hands back to his truck which leaves Alecia, Christian, and I standing there. "Well, I gotta go show some houses back in Westlake, but congrats you two," Alecia says before hugging us both.

We watch his mom leave the property and we turn back to the ocean. "Did your heart stop beating for a minute too?" he asks pulling me into his chest.

"Yeah, it was like it just fell through me. I'm very sure I stopped breathing for a minute too."

"Let's go get lunch while Collin's with Kayden."

I look back to what will be our view in a year and automatically smile. I start walking back to the car when he pulls me back and spins me around. "I am so excited," he says quietly as we are just centimeters from each other. "You and me both." He leans in to kiss me and we stand there for a few minutes just being in the moment.

"A few more pictures. He only turns one once," my mom says taking tons of pictures of us three. Christian and I lean up against the railing with Kayden on my hip between us, Christian's arm rests behind me while he holds a beer in the other hand. I move closer to him and let our moms get a few more pictures before Kayden starts getting antsy and wants to be let down so he can run around. "He has so much energy," I say as we watch him run up to Cam and attach to his leg. He loves him so much.

"Wonder where he gets it from," Christian says, teasing me a little. I slyly roll my eyes and walk over to where our moms were standing so I can see these pictures. From the few pictures that I've seen, they look great and we just look like this picture-perfect family that most people aspire to be.

My dad comes over and looks with us, "Oh, Brooklyn, before we leave tomorrow night, we want what's going on over there at the property."

"Yeah, of course. We can head over before we take you back to the airport."

I look over to the south and can see some progress being done. It's so little and they've only been working on it for a couple of weeks. But the foundation is laid and they're working on the pool right now. But, some of the framing is up and it's just coming together so well even though it's only been about two weeks.

I see Christian waving me over to him and Ryan. "Hey, how are you?" I ask hugging him.

"Pretty good. We wanted to stop by quickly since we were in the area."

"Glad you made it out here."

"We didn't want to miss this. Larisa should be somewhere with the kids. They're really excited to see you both."

"I'm sure they'll be around."

I toss the few cups that were scattered around the kitchen and outside on the table into the garbage while Christian stands at the sink washing the few dishes. I start cleaning up Kayden's high chair since there was some cake residue still on it. He was very unsure about it but once he tasted it, he was all for it. After I was done, I go sit across from Christian at the island and lay my head down. So much work for a kid who won't remember this. "Hey, you okay?"

"Yeah, just tired. He's not going to remember any of this."

"Nope, not a single thing." He comes over by me and kisses the side of my head, "Turned out pretty good though. We know how to throw parties," he says quietly.

"We're damn good at it. Even if it is for a one-year-old."

He chuckles and I turn to face him, "Let's go to bed. We gotta be a little earlier to get my parents back to the airport and they want to go see the new property before they head out."

"I figured they'd want to see it sometime before they left."

I hop off of the stool and start heading upstairs as the lights start to go off making it dark as we walk upstairs. We pass Kayden's room and I pop my head in to see if he's sleeping and there he lays, completely passed out. He had a long day, so I don't blame him. Christian gets into bed before me as I take off all of my makeup and put something on a bit comfier than the jeans I had on. I put my hair up before going back out into our room and shutting off the light. I crawl into bed right next to Christian and intertwine our legs. I rest one of my hands on his chest and he starts aimlessly rubbing my back, which puts me to sleep even faster.

"I love you," I tell him quietly and he returns it pulling me even closer to him than we already are. I start dozing off immediately as I lay my head back onto his bicep.
