Christian~
I don't take my eyes off of Brooklyn's car until I can no longer see it in the parking lot. Maybe I should call her mom or Maggie to see if they can go over there. I hate seeing like that, I hate it so much. I take my phone out of my pocket and scroll through my contacts. Her moms probably at work so Maggie seems like the better person to call. The phone rings for a few seconds and she picks up, "Hey Christian, everything alright?"
"I don't know if you're at work but I was wondering if you could go see if Brooklyn made it home safely."
"Yeah, of course, I just got off so I can head there now. Do you mind me asking what happened?"
"She went in early to get some work done and started panicking while she was talking to Sarah. Sarah had her go out to her car to relax and breathe, but I got there and saw her crying in her car."
"Her anxiety?"
"Yeah. Maggie, I haven't seen it this bad since the whole thing with her ex. I was trying to play it cool and make it seem like it wasn't bigger than it needed to be. I just need to know she made it home safely with Kayden."
"I'll stay there for a bit even if she doesn't want me to. Was she overworking herself?"
"Yeah. Jordan left a little over a month ago and it hasn't been the same down there with them. Sarah and her are drowning in work all the time now and she thinks she has to get all done in one day."
"Christian, I can hear your tone starting to shift and you need to calm down. She doesn't need you coming home freaking out too. I will stay there until you get back."
"Maggie, you have a family at home waiting for you."
"You both are my family too. She needs us right now, okay."
"Okay, thank you."
"I'll text you when I get there. Try not to think about this, you have a job to do. She'd want you worrying about baseball, rather than this. I got her until you get back."
"Thank you. I'll probably be home around 6:30."
"Okay. I'm heading over now." We both hang up and I walk to her office to find Sarah.
"Sarah?" I question walking into the trainer's room. "Yeah? Oh, hey."
"Hey, I just wanted to let you know that I told her to go home because she was really freaking out. She didn't want to go home since now you're left with all this work, but I didn't think you would care that much."
"That's perfectly fine. If she would've come back in here I was going to suggest that too. Is she okay? We were just talking and she started rambling about a bunch of stuff and I saw the panic in her eyes."
"I wish I could give you an answer. I don't like not knowing either. But, I will tell the guys who are here that they can start coming in so you aren't rushing before game time."
"Thank you."
"Yeah, of course." I walk back out and head toward the clubhouse. I sit in my chair impatiently waiting for Maggie to text me. "Dude, you okay?" one of the guys asks me.
"Yeah, it was just a long night." My phone buzzes and I turn it over to see Maggie's text and that weight on my chest was lifted. "They both made it safely and in one piece. I'll keep you posted on how she's feeling."
Thank god. "Thank you so much."
Brooklyn~
Who the hell is at my door? I just want to go lay down, that's all. I open the door and see Maggie standing on the other side. "What are you doing here?"
