Brooklyn~

I sit outside on one of the couches enjoying the view of the Pacific Ocean while I sip on my coffee and wait for Christian to wake up. It's almost 9:30 and it doesn't get any better than this. I've missed this peaceful view. I've come out here and listened to the waves that crashed beneath me almost every morning. It calmed me, and it was something I had been looking forward to ever since August when things got crazy.

"I figured I'd find you out here," Christian says coming out with some shorts and a sweatshirt on. He sits down by me and looks out over the railing.

"I've missed this," I tell him as I tuck my feet under me. "It's good to be back."

"Is everything ready for dinner tonight?" he asks me and I nod. We're having Thanksgiving here instead of at his mom's.

"Yeah, your mom should be over in a couple of hours to start the turkey. Everything big is done. I have some small things to finish like the cheese plate, and the fruit and veggie plates. But, other than that, we should be good. The house is clean so we should be able to wait around until everyone gets here."

"Have you called your mom yet?"

"No. I will when I'm getting ready. I'm sure they're busy with their own dinner." My parents weren't able to make it out for Thanksgiving, but, they and my brother are making it out for Christmas, so it was okay.

"I'm gonna head in and do those little things," I say pushing myself up from the couch.

"Do you need any help?" he asks me as we walk inside.

"If you want to help. It's pretty simple."

"I can do the vegetables," he says as he gets the vegetables out of the fridge and sets them on the island. "Okay, can you get the fruit then too?"

I grab two of the bigger plates and hand one to him. "Do you want them in groups?" I nod, "There's going to be a dip in the middle so just do it around that."

"Alecia! How are you?" I ask her as she brings in some food and we quickly hug. "Honey, I am doing so good. How are you? We've missed you guys."

"I'm glad to be back out here and actually taking a break from work. It's been a crazy, weird year so I'm just happy to be out here with some normalcy."

"Christian was telling me how you were super busy toward the end of the season."

I nod, "Yeah, it wasn't ideal, but I made it work and had a lot of fun doing it. Between work and figuring out how to be 'head trainer' was difficult, and then also planning my friend Maggie's gender reveal, and just keeping up with life. But, now that I'm here, I can finally just let go and relax."

"Well, I'm glad to hear it. Christian, can you go get the turkey? We're gonna set up in here."

He heads back out as we continue to talk. She's like a second mom and that's amazing when mine can't be here today. "How's your family doing?"

"They're doing great! They were sad they couldn't make it out here today, but they said they are all able to make it out for Christmas so that made me really happy."

"Oh, good! Cam and Collin should be here later. Don't tell Christian I said this, but, I think they missed you more than him," she tells me and I laugh.

"Your secret's safe with me."

"If you're all good to go down here, I'm gonna go get ready," I say setting out some of the food so we can snack on it as the day went on.
