Brooklyn ~
The team was absolutely killing it going into late August and hoping to make a big September push. They gained Jacob back after his injury as he has been performing so well since coming back. It made me feel accomplished and it obviously made him feel even better.
We had a few games at home after being in Minnesota, but, we were off on a short road trip and are heading to Chicago to play the Cubs at Wrigley Field, and we were pumped. These are the kind of road trips I enjoy, not far from Milwaukee and we can drive without even having to worry about taking a plane. It just made traveling so much easier when games are close.
We arrived at Wrigley a couple of hours before the game started so there was no time to go to the hotel and get somewhat settled in. I felt like I was running all over the place and I could tell I wasn't starting to feel good. Just another thing to add to today's stress. I brush it off and grab a water bottle and head to the trainer's room to see if I could help with anything.
I see Ryan sitting on one of the beds and I go over to him. "Hey, you feeling good about today's game?" I ask as sits back on the table so his legs are also on the bed instead of hanging off the side.
"Yeah. What about you?" he asks and I cut some KT tape.
"Well, you guys are on a roll, so I have no doubt in my mind that you all won't play well," I say and turn to grab more tape. As I turn I instantly feel lightheaded and start to zone out but I try my best to play it off.
"Hey, Brooklyn, you okay?" Ryan says as he grabs my elbow trying to stabilize me from falling.
"Hmm, oh yeah, I'm fine. I just got a little lightheaded, that's all," I say as I turn back to him.
I see a few more guys come in and I smile and nod at the empty beds. "Brooklyn, look at me," Ryan says and I turn to face him.
"If you don't feel good, you can always go back to the hotel," he says and I shake my head.
"Ryan, I'm just a little lightheaded and I have a slight headache. I'll even go take some ibuprofen right now if that makes you feel better," I say and chuckle.
"Also, when did you really start to act like my older brother. Always looking out for me. I appreciate it," I say heading to my personal bag to search for some medicine.
"Ever since you got here Brooklyn," he says and I laugh. I finally find my ibuprofen bottle and I see Christian coming into the trainer's room. He comes closer to my office as he sees Ryan standing at the door frame. I grab my water bottle and down the medicine and take another drink. God, I hate taking medicine.
"Happy?" I ask with a hint of sass toward Ryan.
"Yes, but I'm still keeping an eye on you throughout the game," he says and I roll my eyes.
Christian is in obvious listening view and gives me a questioning look before looking at Ryan. "Does someone want to explain what just happened or do I have to figure it out myself?" Ryan and I both chuckle as I shake my head.
"I'm fine. I just got a little lightheaded and have a very small headache. That's it."
A worried look comes on his face as I face him with my water bottle in my hand. "Why don't you go to the hotel if you feel sick?" Christian asks.
Before I can say anything Ryan buts into our conversation, "Already offered that. She said no. You know she's very stubborn," he says and I turn to look at him.
"I'm right here," I say and head back out into the main area.
"Christian, don't worry. I just took some medicine. It's probably just some seasonal allergies that I get any time we go away for too long and come back here and then leave right away," I say as he nods and gives me a small hug.
