I Wanted A Kiss.

Christian~

I roll over and reach for Brooklyn but realize she isn't next to me and I get up to go find her. It's pretty early so I don't expect her to be up right now. I think it's like 6:30 so I don't know what she would be doing. I open Kayden's door and she's not in the rocking chair and he isn't in the crib. I check the other rooms before heading downstairs to see if they're down in the living room. Sure enough there they lay on the couch, Kayden laying across her and her head propped up by one of the pillows, both passed out. He must've woken up earlier in the night. I grab one of the blankets we keep down here and gently lay over both of them. I grab another blanket and lay down on the other side of the couch before putting the blanket over me.

The blinds start letting in some of the morning light as I started to wake up. I look over to my two favorite humans and see they're still sleeping. Must've been rough last night. I go over to shut the blinds a little so they could both sleep a little more. But I head into the kitchen to make some coffee so it's ready for whenever she gets up. They both look so peaceful as they sleep, they haven't even moved a muscle since I saw them earlier.

She should be up soon so I set her mug down on the coffee table and go through my phone waiting for her to wake up. I can see in my peripheral she had moved a bit which caught my attention. "Morning," I say quietly and look over at them both.

"Morning, how long have you been up?"

"Half an hour? What time did you come down here?"

"Uh, I think it was around 5. I heard him crying and got up to see what he needed and he was just being fussy. I sat with him, bounced him around and he was not going to sleep. I figured it was probably teething so we came down here and he passed out on me and I didn't want to disturb him, so I was stuck here."

"I figured he was being a little difficult." She laughs, "He was not having it. Thank you for the coffee."

"I figured you'd probably want it."

She sits up as Kayden finally woke up and was reaching for me once he saw me next to them. "Good morning, little boy." I watch Brooklyn lean back onto the couch and rest her head on her hand, "Why don't you go upstairs and lay down? It's not like we're doing anything today."

"Oh, yeah, we're off today. Thank the lord. Then I will go get some more sleep because I don't really want to be grumpy today."

"Yeah, I don't want you grumpy. Because then sassy Brooklyn comes out of her shell at any time."

She looks over at me, "You're are not helping."

I laugh as she gets up and grabs her phone and the blanket I covered her in and starts walking toward the stairs, "Wait."

She stops in her tracks and turns around, "What?" I stand up and walk over to her, "I wanted a kiss."

"Well, I'm not going to say no to that." I lean down and kiss her for a few seconds before breaking away from each other. "Can you come wake me up in a couple of hours? I know I'm not going to wake up on my own."

"Yeah, I love you."

"Love you too." She kisses Kayden and then me once more before I watch her head upstairs and to our room. I set Kayden down on his playmat so he can do some tummy time and also work on his crawling. He's getting so close, it could be any day now. I lay down on the floor with him and try to get him to come to me but he only makes a few very small movements toward me. I leave him where I can see him and go into the kitchen to make him some breakfast since he's getting a little fussy.

"Hey, you doing okay?" It's 11 and you told me to come wake you up," I say quietly as I talk to Brooklyn as she starts to wake up.

She rolls over to face me, "I'm fine, he just had me up early and now I'm super out of it."

"Okay, well he's about to go down for his nap soon. But I wanted to wake you up first."

"Well, I'm gonna shower quickly and then figure out something to do because there's always something to be done around here."

"Okay, I'll be downstairs then," I said before leaning in to kiss her.

Brooklyn~

I get up from our very warm and comfortable bed and make my way to the shower to turn on the water and wait for it to heat up all the way. Kayden got me up so early, I didn't have time to comprehend what was happening. All I heard was him crying and my maternal instincts kicked in and I was right there with him. This teething stage has been kicking our asses. I feel like we can't do much since we don't know what he's feeling. Besides giving him frozen toys that can help with the pain, that's about it. It's always at the most inconvenient times too. Like in the middle of the night, where he has been sleeping so well, except when he wakes up in pain. I just can't help to feel bad and cry for him because I don't like seeing my baby in pain.

I hum along to the song that was playing as I get into the shower and stand there for a while enjoying the warm water hitting my skin. My eyes close as everything just seems to relax and unwind from my very early morning. A pair of hands wrap around me and hold me tight. "What happened to being downstairs?" I ask Christian as I turn around to face him.

"He fell asleep, so I thought I'd join you."

"Fine by me."

Christian holds me right up against him as we both stand under the water, letting it hit us and dousing our hair. "We haven't done this in a while."

"Well, we have a kid now, so that sort of plays a role in that," I say reaching for the shampoo. "Still, it's been too long."

"So impatient."

"What? I like spending this quality time with you."

After we both get done showering he hands me a towel for my body and another for my hair before he walks out with just a towel around his waist. I follow him into our closet and look for some comfy clothes, "What'd you want to do?"

"Nothing too exciting. I think I'm going to pick up the house and clean it since it's pretty gloomy out. It's just going to be a chill day. For once, I don't have to go in so I'm trying to take advantage of that."

"Oh, yeah, you always go in for most off days. Why not this one?"

I shrug, "The more I think about it, we probably should've but I'm not going to say anything now. David told us we didn't have to come in. I'm sure Jordan is there packing and all that, but Sarah and I didn't have anything to do. You said he's napping?"

"Yeah, passed out and drank like half of his bottle." Yep, that sounds like our son. "Okay, so I won't vacuum now, but I can still do everything else. Anything on your to-do list?"

"Might watch some film for the upcoming series. I might go down and lift for like 15 minutes just to keep the blood flowing."

"I thought about working out but I just showered so what's the point?"

"Makes sense. I think I'll go watch film now so I don't have to do it later."

"Okay, I love you."

"I love you, too," he says as we both lean into each other. I follow behind him as I look throughout all of the other rooms except for Kayden's and see the somewhat of a mess behind each door. Long day ahead of us. I put my music in and get to work in the kitchen and living room first. I move the couch cushions and the amount of pacifiers I have found is absurd. I didn't even know we owned this many. Kayden must be one sneaky little dude for hiding most of these.

I don't even know how long it's been since I started but I hear Kayden crying from his room and I go up to get him and calm him down. "Let me see if he calms down for me," Christian says and I hand him to Christian. Kayden pretty much calms down once he's in his arms. That's so rude. I didn't do all that work to one, just look exactly like your dad and two, for you to be all happy and dandy with your dad. "Did you work out?"

"No, I didn't want to nor could bring myself to do it." We sit back on the couch and watch the movie I put on and relax the rest of the day. This has been the chillest day so far and I couldn't be more thankful for this day. Started off pretty rough, but gradually got better, so I guess it's a win, right?
