Brooklyn~
"Hey, you'll be there in less than a week. Five days and we'll be back to our normal lives," I tell Christian at the boarding gate. I'm heading to Phoenix for the start of Spring Training and Christian would be coming in a few days.
"I know, I'm just gonna miss you," he says and hugs me.
"Five days. That's it," I say into his chest. He kisses my head, "Flight 2231 to Phoenix is now boarding at Gate B14," a lady says over the intercom. I hug Christian a little tighter knowing I have to get going. I mean it's not like I'm going across the world, but still, we haven't spent a day apart since the summer. He's my person and I don't want to leave my person.
"I better get going," I say and look up at him.
"Text me when you get there. I'll see you soon. I love you," he says and quickly kisses me.
"I love you too," I say and hug him one last time before boarding my flight.
I quickly head to Christian's apartment here in Phoenix and got settled in. I text Christian quickly, "I made it safely. Can't wait for you to get here. The weather is absolutely beautiful out here."
Christian Facetimes me and I answer as I get ready to head to American Family Fields of Phoenix and get ready for the pitchers and catchers to report within the next day. "How was the flight?"
"Not bad. Just glad I'm here and can get back to work," I say and grab my work bag and head out of our temporary home.
"Who else is there already?" he asks as I head to the elevator and down to the lobby. "Woody, Suter, Jacob, Freddy, and some of the minor league pitchers. I've seen a couple of position players too. But, I haven't been to the park yet so I assume more of them are there."
He nods, "Well, I'll let you go. Go do your thing," he tells me as I get into my rental car. "Okay, I love you."
"I love you, too."
Christian and Ryan were flying in today and I couldn't be more excited. I headed to the airport to pick them up. I sat in the arrival terminal and see them walking out of the sliding doors. I get out and stand at the back of the car waiting for them to see me. Ryan comes running toward me with Christian following behind him shaking his head.
"Oh, god," I say as he bear hugs me into him.
"Ryan I just saw you like two weeks ago," I say and laugh as he lets go of me. I open the trunk and let him get his stuff in.
"Where's my hug?" Christian asks with his hand still on his bag. "Right here," I say and wrap my arms around his neck.
"Yeah, I'll be in the car. Remember, you guys are in public," he tells us and we both roll our eyes at him. He buries his head in my neck as I stand on my toes.
"How was your flight?" I say as he lets go of me and puts his luggage in the back. "Pretty good. I'm excited to be back playing and be back with you," he tells me and kisses me quickly before going to the passenger door.
"I don't know if either of you has been told, but they are making every player do a full physical this year. Not my call, completely new rules," I say as we head back to the apartment complex. They both look at me and roll their eyes.
"Ugh, why?" Ryan asks, clearly annoyed. "Like I said, not my call. If it was me, I would say every other year."
It was our first actual game of Spring Training and it felt so good to be back in action. I oddly missed working. Although our offseason was super nice, it feels really good to be back and doing the job I love. I stood in my office, with my AirPods in looking over physical reports and injury lists. I feel someone wrap their arms around me and I gasp and quickly turn around. "Geez, you can't do that to me," I say realizing it was just Christian, and put the papers back down on my desk and wrap my arms around him. He laughs and kisses me making me smile.
