Brooklyn~
"Brooklyn, so Congrats on your first day as Head Athletic Trainer. So we found and hired a new assistant trainer to work with you. Also, one of the local colleges reached out to us and was wondering if you would also like to take on an intern until the end of the season. You can definitely say no, I just wanted to give you the option," Mark says to me as we walk to my office.
"I would be happy to take an intern as well. Can you let me know when they are here? I will go greet them at the door."
"The new assistant should be here in an hour and I'm sure if I contact the school with the intern they can be here soon too," Mark tells me as I unlock my office and throw my bags onto my desk. "Awesome, thank you."
I walk around the trainer room looking in our cabinets taking inventory since I knew we were running low on a few items. I make my way around the room and back to my desk so I can order all of the supplies. "What's going on?" Christian says coming into my office. "Just ordering some supplies before the rest of the guys get in here."
"How long will you be the only one working down here?"
"Actually, they already hired an assistant athletic trainer and they should be getting here soon. I'm also taking in an intern as well. So I should be just fine."
"Well, that's good. Do you know anything about them?"
"Nope," I say looking at the time and realize I should get going to greet my new colleagues, "I gotta get going and meet them at the door."
"Don't let me hold you back," he says as I stand up and kiss him quick before heading to the staff door.
Mark and I stand at the door waiting for them to get here. "Ahh, Jordan, welcome. This is Brooklyn the Head Athletic Trainer. Brooklyn, this is Jordan the new assistant trainer," Mark says as we shake hands. "We are just waiting on the intern to arrive. Once she arrives, Brooklyn will take you both back and get you settled and show you around, and then you're off to work."
"Great. I'm really excited to be working here."
"Sarah, thank you for coming on such short notice. This is Brooklyn, the head athletic trainer, and Jordan our new assistant trainer. We are so excited to have you both. Brooklyn, I will let you take it over from here."
"Thank you, Mark. Have a nice rest of your day." He walks away and we all start walking toward the trainer's room.
"Okay, so I will have you two get settled. Jordan, there is an empty office next to mine, that will be your space. Sarah, since you're only here for a couple of months, you can put your stuff in my office."
"How do you like working here? What's it like working with major league baseball players?" Jordan asks me as we walk into the trainer's room and into my office.
"Honestly, I was really intimidated when I first started but they are all so appreciative of everything we do. I love working here. I'm from around here so I grew up watching the Brewers so it's sort of full circle for me. I will be out here if either of you needs anything. Jordan your office is right there," I say pointing to the room next to mine.
"Thank you. I will be out in a few minutes."
"Take your time. Most of the guys aren't here yet so I'm just restocking the cabinets."
Sarah comes out and joins me and helps me restock. "So what school do you go to? Mark didn't tell me much," I say trying to make conversation since I can tell she's a little nervous. "Carroll University in Waukesha."
"Oh, nice. I was deciding between Carroll and Marquette for the program. I picked Marquette but I was definitely torn between the two," I tell her as she hands me some more bandages and tape. "Are they really that intimidating?"
