Opening Day 2025

"Christian?" I ask from our closet as I look through the jerseys I have and also what he has. The one day they let us wear jerseys, I don't have the right one with me. "Yeah?" he says coming into the closet with me.

"Do you have another cream jersey somewhere?"

"Yeah, at the field. Why, can you wear them today?"

"Yeah, they emailed us last night at 9 saying that we could." I tuck my tank top into my jeans that surprisingly still fit even though I'm 20 weeks, which is crazy to think about. We're already halfway through. All of our family and closest friends know, the team knows, the front office knows. Let's just say I got a ton of shit from Maggie, one, about keeping it from her for so long, and, two, because she was right and I didn't think that she was.

"Little one is getting big, huh?"

"The size of a banana!"

"Wow, already? They giving you any trouble?"

"No, it's like smooth sailing once the first trimester ends. Besides a little jab into my organs every once in a while, everything else is perfect."

We walk out of our room and toward Kayden's room so he can get dressed so we can head out soon, "Have you felt any kicks on the outside?"

"I haven't but I also haven't been paying attention that well either, so it's a possibility."

Christian laughs and lifts Kayden over the railing as I find his jersey. He's finally grown into the jersey that I got a couple of years ago when I found out I was pregnant with him. Kayden runs over to me and puts his arms up and pats my belly. "Be careful. Remember, mama's got a baby in her belly," Christian tells him.

He looks over at him and back to me as I picked him up and set him down on the changing table, "Baby in belly?"

"Yeah! Your little brother or little sister. You were in my tummy at one point."

"I was?" He is so fucking adorable. If this one turns out just like him, I'll be so happy.

"Yeah, it's where you grew until you were too big and had to come out."

"When baby get here?"

"A few months."

"I'm so excited!" he says as I work on buttoning his jersey up. That just gave me so much relief. He could change his mind in a split second but hearing him say that and sound like he means it, is just great news.

"You two ready?" Christian asks as he stood there watching us the entire time. "Daddy? You gonna hit the ball far today?"

"I'll try just for you."

"No pressure," I comment earning a slight eye roll.

I get Kayden down and off the table before grabbing his bag filled with anything to keep him entertained while he's up in one of the suites with the other wives, girlfriends, and kids.

As I walk through the halls, carrying the jersey I'll wear today, I can't help but think that this is going to be my sixth season working for the Brewers. Six seasons. We got my whole job situation squared away and up until I can't travel anymore, I will be with the team full-time. But once I have to stop traveling with the team, that's when another trainer will step in and help Sarah. I'll most likely be out for the rest of the season unless they make it far into the playoffs and this one wants to come earlier than expected. I still get to keep my title and will always be welcome on away series. It's just weird, next season, I'll be at home with two kids while Christian is in Miami or Seattle. We literally haven't left each other's side in the time we were dating and are now married.
