Brooklyn~
"Well, I'll see you guys later. Possibly All-Star break right?" Alecia asks us as we stand outside of the departure area at General Mitchell Airport. Alecia's been here for a week and it's been one of the best weeks. She's going back to Los Angeles and I think both of us are just as sad.
"Yeah, even if I don't make the team we can probably fly out for a short vacation." He acts like he isn't going to make the team at all. He might not start, but seriously, he'll make the team. "Okay, well, I better get going." I watch as Christian hugs her, "Love you, mom."
"Love you guys. Good luck for the time being." We both lean up against his car and watch as she makes her way into the airport. This has to be so hard for him. He's a momma's boy and he'll tell you that. I step off of the car and look around the rather busy departure area and stretch out my arms. I stand in front of him as he wraps his arms around my neck and pulls me close. "We can't just stand here all day. We do have a game to get to tonight," I say into his chest.
"I know," he sighs, "Let's get going then."
I hold my hand over the console, waiting for Christian to notice. Soon he takes my hand but turns it over, "God, that ring looks good on you," he says bringing my hand up to his lips and kissing it. I laugh, "That reminds me that we need to get you a band soon."
"Ugh, don't remind me," I laugh, "I just want it to be simple and manly." Manly? What?
"Manly? That's the best you could come up with?"
"Yeah, so like tungsten. I've seen a few that I've liked, but not many."
"Okay, sounds good." I look back at the road and focus on the beautiful weather. A nice light breeze, little to no clouds, sunny, warm, and not very humid. We were experiencing a heatwave and I was enjoying every single second of it. Best time of the year.
"Who do we got tonight?" I ask him. It's the last home series before we go on the road again. I can't ever keep who they're playing straight, so I just hope he knows. "Mets, I think. I believe it's a four-game series. And then, we're on the road again."
I roll my eyes, "Oh c'mon, I know they're your favorite."
"I love traveling, there's no doubt, but the early mornings just need to not be a thing. Isn't this trip an NL Central road trip?"
"Yeah, 3 games in St. Louis, 3 games in Cincinnati, and 4 games at the Cubs." That'll be fun. At least we aren't traveling super far. They're like two-hour flights, which mean no super early mornings or late nights, hopefully.
"Oh, that's not that bad." He pulls into our driveway and garage. "I'm really glad this one isn't very far," I nod as we head into the house, "What are you doing until we have to leave?"
"Um, I thought I would clean a bit, maybe answer some emails that need to be answered. Why?"
"Well, I think I'm gonna go get in the pool if you wanted to come in with me."
"You're very convincing."
"Is it working?" he raises his eyebrows and looks down at me.
I slightly nod, "Yeah, very much so." He smiles and pulls me upstairs toward our room.
"Go sit. I want to pick your suit out." I start to question him, "Wh- Nevermind, have at it."
I sit on my phone waiting for him to come back out. "Why do you have so many?" I hear from the closet. "It's really not that many. Also, it's not that hard. Just make them match."
"That's easier said than done." He tosses the two pieces next to me. At least they match. Can't go wrong with white and black. "Not bad," I say smirking and going to change.
