Brooklyn~
The last regular-season game before the postseason starts and the guys were able to clinch a Wild Card spot a couple of days ago. 34 weeks pregnant and I no longer fit anything, which that's nothing new, but most of my maternity clothes don't fit anymore. So, I live in one of Christian's hoodies, shorts, or sweatpants all the time, even while I work. I've got this waddle walk going on and I think it's incredibly annoying but Christian just thinks it's the cutest thing in the world. I feel like I'm a penguin when I walk, and it's probably what I look like too.
I toss a stack of papers onto my desk after I slowly made my way down to my office. This third trimester has been the hardest one yet. One, because I barely experienced the first trimester since we found out super late, and my second one was pretty good. I felt amazing the entire time, for the most part. This trimester, oh my god, I want to sleep all day, I've started nesting and have the need to clean everything. Braxton-hicks contractions are very real and not fun. I've become more anxious about the possibility of Christian not being in Milwaukee when our son wants to make an appearance. I'm just having a fucking great time with this.
"You've looked better," Sarah says coming into my office. "Thanks, nice to see you too."
"Shouldn't you be at home? Resting? Getting ready for him?"
"Probably, but I'm not at 36 weeks yet, so I'm just trying to end on a high note and get through these next few games."
"You let me know if I can do anything."
"I will. I'm going to go out there and watch them hit and get set up."
"No problem, we got this covered back here."
I sigh as she walks out and look down at my bump, "You make this very hard."
I slowly but surely make my way into the dugout and sit down on the bench to take a break. "Hey, kid, how are you doing?" Couns asks as he comes up to me and sits down.
"I've been better. Pushing through though."
"You can go home if you need to."
"And miss our last regular-season game? I also told you guys I would work until I'm 36 weeks, and I'm not yet. I'm taking it easy, I promise."
"Yeah? And how is he with that?" he asks me, pointing at Christian. "Does he want me to be working for hours? No. But he knows that I'll go crazy if I don't work. So, as long as I tell him or any of you if somethings wrong, he's okay with me still working. I think he'd rather me be here with him than be at home, and I'm the same way."
"If you need to go home or take a break anytime, go ahead. Nobody is stopping you from doing so. We are all here for both of you and understand if you need to go on maternity leave early."
"Okay, thank you." He walks away and onto the field as the guys start their bp. I find the energy to move up there as well so I can watch them and tend to any of them. Christian waves at me and I return a smile back toward him. I waddle my way over behind the cage and watch all of them hit a few balls at a time.
I lean my head down on one of the cushioned metal bars and wait for this sharp, annoying pain to pass. The only good thing about Braxton-Hicks is that they are fast and not frequent enough where I'm going to get worried about it. He dropped down further into my pelvis this week since we are getting so close and it's a relief of some sort because I just want to meet him and love him but now my back hurts 10x more. The good thing is I can finally breathe normally again, so that's been a blessing.
Christian walks up next to me and slips his hand up the sweatshirt I have on and gently rubbed my back. "Do you need to sit?"
"No, it's better if I stand."
