I left Brooklyn back at the hotel hoping she would sleep and let whatever got her sick, get out of her system. I felt so bad, and I knew she felt absolutely helpless. Honestly, I missed her at the game today. I like looking over in the dugout and see her focusing on the game, or laughing with one of the guys. I know she loves her job, and I love watching her do it.
We sucked today, more specifically me. I could not hit the ball for the life of me. I struck out three times and got walked. That was the highlight of the game today for me, getting walked. After the game ended, I immediately got back on the bus and waited to be taken back to the hotel.
We finally got back to the hotel and I went to pick up some food for both of us at Chipotle. Thankfully, it was right around the corner from our hotel and I could run in quick and head back to the hotel to be with my girl. I just ordered our normal and quickly walked back to the hotel.
I unlocked our door and walked in. I heard the TV was still on as the Post Game Show was on and I turn the corner and see Brooklyn sitting up on her computer in our bed. She looks up at me and smiles, "Hi," is all she says and I come over and sit by her and bring our food to her.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" I ask and she opens the bag of food and takes out her burrito bowl.
"Well, I just took a shower and I feel much better than this morning and last night. I took some medicine and kept hydrating myself," she tells me and I nod.
"Did you watch the game?" I ask. "
Yeah, I did. What happened out there?" she asks and I let out a big sigh.
"I don't know. It was like all of us just lost it out there. Maybe my problem was I just missed you being there and watching us. The others, I don't know. Pitching was a huge problem today and then some of us didn't even get a hit. It was just a rough day. But, I'm glad you're starting to feel better," I say leaning into her and wrapping my arms around her.
Brooklyn kisses my cheek, "Don't be too hard on yourself. I know you are a good baseball player. Your family knows that, the fans know that, and your teammates know that," she tells me and I nod. "I know, it's just like I'm gonna be the face of the Brewers and I don't want to let anyone down," I tell her, and she gives me a sympathetic look.
"You aren't letting anyone down. Not your family, not your teammates, not the fans, and definitely not me," she says and I lean in to kiss her.
"I really appreciate you. I love you," I say. She smiles at me and hands me my food, "I love you too."
We eat our food quickly and get somewhat settled in for the night. "Do you want to go down to the hot tub? Only if you feel like it though." I suggest to Brooklyn as we lay together.
She looks up at me and nods, "Yeah, let's go. Maybe it will make me feel less stuffy and clear me up a bit," she says and I smile. We both get up and go through our suitcases. We both change quickly and grab some towels and head down to the pool and hot tub.
I interlace our fingers as we walk towards the elevator and wait for the doors to open. We get into the elevator and I bring her into my arms and kiss the top of her head. "I'm so glad you are feeling better," I say as we ride the elevator down. She looks up at me and rests her chin on my chest, "Me too. I really hope it was just a 24-hour bug and I can get back to work tomorrow," she says as the elevator doors open.
We open the door to the pool and see a few of the guys also taking advantage of the hotel facilities. "Brooklyn!!" they say toward us. "Are you feeling better?" Ryan says as I take her towel to a table and set it down along with her phone and the key to our room. I come back to the group and listen to her talk to them.
