Brooklyn~

"Have you heard anything?" Ryan asks Christian and me as we all walk into my office. "Yeah, court dates will be April 13th through April 15th. So you guys have games on the 13th and 14th and then we all have an off day on the 15th," I tell both of them as I read from my phone the text that Brittany sent and also looking at the regular-season calendar.

"I still have to talk to Scott, David, and Couns about it but from what he has told me," I point at Christian, "I think I can take off and they would be okay with it."

He nods, "How are you feeling about it? That's only like two weeks from now," he says and I scoff. I think about it before I answer him, "I kinda don't know how to feel about it. Like, I'm absolutely terrified to face him. But, also if he does get convicted, I'll be so relieved and have a weight lifted off of my chest. I don't want to be another girl that doesn't get justice," I express to both of them.

I can tell neither of them know what to say so I head back out into the main area and check on some of the guys.

"Everything good out here?" I ask Scott as he comes back from the field.

"Yeah, you can head to the field and get set up if you'd like," he says and I head back to my office to grab some supplies. The guys are still in there talking about who knows what. I have my back toward them as I grab stuff from the cabinet.

"Okay, why are you two staring at me? You two act like I can't feel it," I say and turn around and lean up against my desk.

They both look at each other and chuckle, "Yeah this is when I leave," Ryan says and gets up and heads out of my office.

I raise my eyebrows at Christian waiting for a response. "He's worried about you," I give him a look of disbelief, "Okay, fine, I'm worried about you. We both are."

"Can I ask why?" I say and shut my door. "I just need to know that you are going to be okay when the trial is here."

I sigh and go over to sit next to him but he pulls me into his lap instead. "I don't know what will happen when that comes around. I want to know, just so you can be aware. If I could give you an answer, I would, but I don't know."

He sighs, "Okay. Can you promise me something?" he asks and I nod.

"Promise me you won't push me away. Promise me that you will not let him get into your head and control you. Just please, promise me that you continue to be you," he says and I nod, biting my bottom lip. He holds out his pinky and I laugh shaking my head, "I promise," I say linking our pinkies and going in for a small kiss.

3 weeks later

"Oh, god," I say as Christian and I pull up to the Milwaukee County Courthouse. They allowed him to take the time off too, which was amazing. "How are you feeling?"

"Um, I don't know. I kind of just feel numb. That'll probably change in a few minutes," I say as I watch my parent's car pull up next to ours. We get out and talk to both of them before heading in.

"Brooklyn, over here," I hear Brittany say as we enter the courthouse. She leads us into a different room and goes through everything.

"Okay, so you will be taking the stand first. Try not to make eye contact with him. Just focus on what you know. Take your time. Nobody is rushing you to get your side. Okay?" she tells us and I nod. "Are you ready to head in?"

"Yeah," I say letting out a breath, and Christian grabs my hand giving it a small squeeze. Today is going to be long and rough.
