Brooklyn~
"What is wrong with you?" Christian asks me as I slowly sat down in my chair.
"I'm going to let you figure that one out on your own."
He smirks and laughs, "Oh, I see." I nod, "Yeah, a little sore."
"Too much?"
I shake my head, "No, just not used to it as much I was," he laughs at my short explanation.
He moves my hair, "Oh, you got it covered?" he asks making me chuckle. Let's just say we had a lot of fun last night.
"Yeah, I only covered that one though. It's a little more noticeable than the others. And I don't really want people noticing."
"Was it that dark?"
I look over at him, "Christian, I walked around the house with my hood up and tied around my neck. I knew it was there, but I wasn't sure how dark they were so I was just being cautious. I'd rather your mom not know. You are like a fricking vampire."
"I am not." I give him a disapproving look and he laughs, "You know I'm right."
He shrugs, "I'm gonna go hit. And before you ask, yes, my back is just fine." He knows me too well. "Have fun." He leans down and kisses me a couple of times before heading out. I move out to the main area and start cleaning up before the guys actually start coming in.
"Hey, Brooklyn, can we talk for a minute?" Jordan asks me. I turn around, "Now?"
"Yeah, if we could that'd be great." I follow him into his office and he slightly shuts the door. "I wanted you to be the first one to know what I'm about to tell you. I am in no way trying to degrade what you do and your position, but I have been looking at taking the next step. That being said, I am letting David know after the game that I will be accepting a head trainer position with The Oakland Athletics and putting my two weeks in. I know we leave in a few days for a trip, but I was wondering if you would care if I took this one off to get everything settled and packed. I know it's sudden, but I just think it's something I need to happen for me and my career growth."
"Wow, okay," I say laughing a little, "Not what I was expecting. I don't even have words. Congratulations. If you need to take off, take it off. Sarah and I got this covered. I'm really excited for you, that's great."
"Thank you. I've been thinking about this since late Spring Training and was just looking around at some schools, colleges, pro-sports and saw they had an opening. That's why I was gone a couple of weeks ago, I had a phone interview with them, and called me back two days ago with the offer."
"That's amazing. We'll miss you when you do go."
"That's what was keeping me back here. I love the atmosphere here and it was so hard to leave this. I just wanted to thank you for everything you've taught me over the past four years. I've had so much fun and I can't thank you enough. I'm gonna miss being here, but I need to grow as a person."
"No, I get it. I had that same thought before I was promoted, but I'm really proud and I can't wait to see what you're going to do."
"Thank you. I really appreciate it. But, can we keep this on the down-low for now until it's set in stone and David and the team know."
"Yes, of course," I say and I lean in to give him a friendly hug. "Does Sarah know?"
"No, not yet."
"Okay, my lips are sealed." He smiles and hugs me once more. Wow, this is going to be so weird. Change is not my favorite, so this is going to be so weird and maybe even a little hard. I've been used to working with two other people and who knows if they'll hire another trainer when he leaves. It'd be nice but I almost think it gets too crowded in here with three of us.
