Brooklyn~
"What are you going to do when he's done?" Larisa asks me as we watch our guys run the California Strong softball event. "What do you mean?"
"Like after he's done playing, what are you going to do with your job?"
I move Kayden so he can lay up against my chest before speaking, "Um, I think I would find something out here in LA or Malibu. I don't know, I've thought about it but I never really kept the idea running."
"Would you be able to just not work?"
"Probably, but I'm a busy body so I don't think I could be at home all day. We've talked about it a little, but it's not something on my radar just yet. He still has about four years left on his contract and if he wants to take the mutual option, I'll support him either way. I think by the time he's done we would at least have another baby."
"Another baby? Already?"
"Oh, no. Not for another year or two. He's an angel and is such a good baby. But, I think two under 18 months, is not something I would want to handle. I think when the time comes when he retires, we'll probably have home base out here in Malibu and travel back for holidays like Christmas with my family."
"How many kids?"
"We both think three is the magic number. I think four is too many, and two is too little. If they all turn out like him, I would have so many more. He's just so perfect and so easy. It makes it easier on us and it gives me peace of mind that he will hopefully be this good during the season."
"Is it weird not being down there?" she asks pointing toward the field. I shrug, "I mean, it's always fun when I would play. But I like being up here with you. It's a lot less stress on me and I can actually watch a game from the stands. I don't get that anymore, I'm always in the dugout, which is so fun, but I like watching from a different perspective that I haven't seen in a while."
"I like you being up here. I have someone to talk to." I laugh and watch the ball roll after being hit into the infield. "I like it too."
"We should probably get down there, shouldn't we?" I ask as the game is almost over and both Christian and Ryan are going to want us down there for pictures. She sighs, "Yeah, probably."
"How's he been doing at night?"
"So much better than a couple of weeks ago. He's sleeping from 8 to about 2:30, so then I'll feed him for however long and I'll put him back down around 3:15. So, he's getting way better at sleeping through the night, which is a blessing for both of us."
"It gets better, trust me." We walk through the gate and stand near the dugout as the game starts to come to an end. Everybody starts to shake hands and move toward the middle of the field to take pictures.
Christian and Ryan wave us over to them as the entire group of founders stand together getting pictures done. Kayden's face lights up when he sees Christian and he starts to somewhat reach for him. I feel like he's ahead of his age group. Like he's holding his head so well and reaching for us sometimes and recognizing us. Christian takes him out of my arms and holds him on the other side of him as he wraps his free arm around me. "I'm proud of you," I say and stand on my toes to kiss his cheek.
"Missed you down there."
"You or Ryan?" He laughs, "Did he tell you he wanted you to play for his team?"
"No, but that doesn't surprise me." The camera flickers a few times before we all disperse as a group and Ryan, Larisa, the kids, Christian, and I stand around watching the guests leave. "When do you guys head to Phoenix?"
