Brooklyn~

We were currently back in Milwaukee for a late Christmas with my family and had been cooking all day. I noticed the star had fallen and it needed to be put back up. "Christian, can you come here please? I can't reach the top of the tree," I say holding the star in my hand. He comes around the corner from the kitchen and squats down in front of the couch.

I give him a questioning look, "Well, are you going to get on?" he asks. "I figured you would just reach up there like a normal human being, but okay," I say as I get onto his shoulders.

"Oh, god," I say as he stands up and I wobble on top of his shoulders. I am now eye level with the tree and successfully put the star back on top as it had fallen the night before.

Christian heads back to the couch to set me down when my parents step in the door, "What are you doing?" my mom asks me and makes her way through the house.

"The star fell and it needed to be put back up and you know I'm short so I can't reach it," I tell her and Christian carefully squats down again so I can get off of his shoulders. She walks into the kitchen and admires my work, "How long until the ham is done?"

"Should be in 10 minutes. We can get the table ready," I say and grab the plates.

"Brooklyn, that was delicious. You developed my cooking skills. Christian, you got lucky," my mom says and we all laugh. "Well, I had the best teacher," I tell her and take my plate to the sink.

"Here, I can take that," I tell my dad and watch him sit down in front of the TV. I rinse off the dishes and put them in the dishwasher and wait for the rest of them to be done so I can clear off the table. Christian notices and starts taking the food off and setting it on the island so it can be put into Tupperware.

"Thank you," I tell him as he scoops the food into the bowls.

We quickly get all of the leftovers into the fridge and clean up. "Mom? Dad? We're gonna head out. I'll come by one more time before we leave. Then, we won't be back until late March," I tell them as I put on my coat. I hug my parents once more and let Christian say their goodbyes as well.

"We love you, honey. Merry Christmas," they say from the doorstep as we walk out to my car.

"Do you wanna drive?" I ask Christian as I am exhausted from cooking all day. "Yeah," he says and I throw my keys at him.

"That was really nice. I'm glad we could spend time with your family," he says as we wait for my car to warm up. "Me too," I smile and lean across the center console and kiss him.

We made it back to Christian's place and we both went up a changed into some comfier, warm clothes. He heads back down to the living room and I go into the guest bedroom and get his gift. I open the case and see the silver diamond chain that has my initials attached to it as a small pendant. I smile and close it and put it back in the bag.

I walk down the stairs and see him staring at his phone while ESPN plays in the background on the TV. "So, I know we both agreed to not get each other anything for Christmas, but I saw this, and I couldn't resist," I tell him as he looks up from his phone and smiles. I hand him the bag and sit across from him on the couch. I watch him open the case and smile and look back up at me.

"I know you don't like the bigger chains so I figured this one can go along with the one you already have," I say and rest my hand on my head as I lean up against the back of the couch.

"You didn't have to do this. Thank you," he says and leans in to kiss me.

"Good thing we both didn't follow that rule. Stay there," he tells me and gets up and goes upstairs. "I didn't have time to wrap it since I just got it the other day, but, here," he says and he hands me a small box. I furrow my brow and take it from him and open it. Inside is a necklace with a small locket.

"Open it," he tells me and I take the necklace out of the box and open the locket. I gasp when I see it's a picture of my grandma and me at my college graduation.

"How'd you get this photo?" I say as tears well in my eyes and I look over the photo. It's the last one I have of us together and one of my favorites.

"I asked your mom if she had any photos of you and your grandma that were newer and she sent me that one. If she didn't, I was just going to put a picture of us in there," he says and I laugh.

"Thank you," I said quietly before he leans in and kisses me once more.

"Babe is the house about ready for later?" I ask Christian as he comes upstairs from his light workout. "Yeah, we just have to set out the food and drinks," he says turning on the shower. We flew back to Malibu and decided we would throw a New Year's party and invite some people to celebrate with us. I nod as I head to the closet to pick out an outfit for tonight.

I had already done my hair and makeup and was now ready to put on my dress. I put on a white, sparkly bodycon dress that hugged every curve on my body just right. Now, this is a New Year's Eve dress. I put on some blush pink heels and add the finishing touches and I go downstairs to wait for our guests.

Maggie and Will were the first to show and I couldn't be more excited. They flew in a few days ago to visit LA and I texted her. "Girl, what the fuck, you're so hot," she tells me and brings me in for a hug, "and so tan," she says and looks at my skin. I laugh and hug her again.

"Where's Christian? His place is absolutely beautiful," she says as Will and I hug quickly. "He should be down soon," I tell them and take their coats. "There are drinks and appetizers in the kitchen right around the corner. Feel free to help yourself," I say and head to the guest bedroom and set their coats down.

I run into Christian while coming out of the room, "Hey, whoa, you look absolutely insane," he says as we walk down the stairs. "I hope that's a good thing," I tease him and head to the kitchen. I hear the doorbell ring and Christian opens the door and I see possibly one of my favorite people. Ryan enters with Larisa, Moose, and his wife.

"Hey, it's nice to see you guys," I say. "Oh my god, you look amazing," Larisa says coming up to me and hugs me. "Oh, thank you. You do too."

More people have shown up throughout the night. Music blasts through the house and drinks roam the kitchen. Christian comes and finds me as I stand on the edge watching everybody dance the night away. "We throw great parties," I say.

"Hell yeah we do," he says and I laugh. "Hey, it's almost midnight," he tells me and I look at the TV as it plays the exact time. We watch as the people we invited find their significant others and try to beat the clock before it struck midnight.

"5... 4... 3... 2... 1," is screamed all around us. Christian gently grabs my face and leans in to kiss me. His hands fall from my face and make their way down my back pulling me in even more. He breaks the kiss, "Happy New Year," he tells me.

"Happy New Year," I say back to him and kiss him one more time and run my fingers through the base of his neck.

We break away and look into each other's eyes, "I love you and cannot wait to see what 2021 has in store for us."

"I love you, too. Let's go bring in the New Year."
