Brooklyn~

"We're gonna be late if you don't get up now," Christian whispers to me as I lay snuggled up under our warm covers. The past few days all I've wanted to do is sleep, and that's all I want to do now. But, he is right, I do need to get up. I push myself onto my elbows and run a hand through my hair.

"Did you sleep well?" he asks me and I swing my legs off the bed and let them dangle. "Yeah, just super tired."

I get up and head to our closet to change into some comfy clothes that I can go to our appointment in. I grabbed a small bag to put my work clothes in and start to head downstairs. "Do you want anything for breakfast?"

I think about it for a minute, "I'll just grab a granola bar," I tell him and pack my work bag. Food doesn't even sound good right now. He hands me my reusable water bottle and I put it in the side pocket of my bag. "Ready?" he asks with a big smile on his face. "Yeah."

"Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Yelich," I like the sound of that, "How are you feeling?" our doctor, Dr. Thomas, asks me. "Pretty good, really tired," I say and she takes us back into a normal medical exam room. "We're gonna take some blood and then we will bring you back to do an ultrasound. I understand you're both on a bit of a time crunch this morning."

"Yeah, we need to both be at work by 11 at the latest." 11 is pushing it too. "We shouldn't be too long and you will be on your way," she tells us, and we both nod. Another nurse comes in to draw my blood.

"Okay, Congratulations, you are pregnant. Do we want to go see your baby?" she asks us and we both nod. "Follow me," we both stand up and make our way into a dimly lit room. Christian goes over and takes a seat next to the bed as I get situated and roll my shirt up. "The gel will be a little cold," she says and turns the machine on.

"You won't see much except for a tiny embryonic sac implanted on the uterine wall. I might be able to detect a heartbeat. It all depends on how far along I believe you are."

She moves the wand around and Christian grabs my free hand, "Oh, look right there," she says zooming in on the picture she just took and projects the picture to a different screen. My eyes well with tears immediately after she zoomed in. I sit there in complete shock. Seeing this little, tiny, thing that's growing inside of me is something I didn't think I'd experience for a couple more years.

I look over at Christian and see him in complete shock as well, just more than me. Tears stream down his face, "Oh, babe," I say and move my hand to hold his cheek and wipe some of his tears.

"You are measuring at about 6 weeks, you should be due around December 7th. Everything looks healthy. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to detect the heartbeat, I think it's just too early. I want you to come back in two weeks or so you can hear it. After that, it will be every 6-8 weeks."

"Okay, thank you so much," I tell her as she wipes the gel off of my stomach. "Of course, you two have a great day."

We get out to Christian's car and stand at the back of it just hugging. Neither of us has stopped smiling since we've seen our little miracle. "Can we stop and get food before we head to the park?" I ask him since now I'm hungry and need something to hold me over until we're done. "Yeah," he laughs and goes to his side while I go over to mine and get in.

Well, we aren't as late as I thought we were going to be. I walk into my office with the bag of food in one hand and the other bags I had packed in my other hand. "There you are," Ryan says getting my attention as he does some physical therapy with Jordan.
