I Ever Tell You.

Brooklyn~

I walk into the film room to see Christian sitting in there alone. Ryan told me he would be in here so I thought I would go and see what he's doing since I'm done for the night and he still hadn't come and sat in my office. I stand near the door as he's analyzing a previous game and his stance. He would tell you he's doing awful but I would say below average for this time of the year. It's the end of April so he shouldn't be worried, but I know him too well to know he's overthinking a lot.

He stands up and tosses the remote onto the chair next to him and starts to imitate his stance as he stands next to a slowed-down video of one of his homers from last season. He doesn't even notice that I'm standing there watching him. I continue to watch him as he gets set and looks toward the screen. I move closer to watch him better and see if I can pick out any differences. He starts to swing through and I immediately notice what is but I want to see if he can figure it out first.

He takes a few more drives through his swing before I speak up, "Your shoulders and hips aren't aligning like normal." He quickly turns around, not expecting anybody to be with him.

He looks at me almost speechless, "How'd you figure that out?"

"Well, I've been watching you for the past few minutes and when you start to swing I glance over at the screen and then back at you and can see when you end your hips are pointing outwards like normal. It's like your ending not as outwards as you normally are."

"Can you pull up a different video from 2019 so I can look at that instead of last year's?" he asks me and I walk down the few stairs and go over to the laptop that was connected to a projector that was projecting onto a screen. "A homer?"

"Yeah, that'll work." I search through the multiple videos to find one from April 2019, "This is from April 15th when you hit three home runs. Watch the alignment of your shoulders and hips when you follow through."

I watch his swing in the video and restart it so I can watch him this time. He takes a few more swings before he sits down next to me. "Are you done for the night?"

"Yeah, you hadn't come and got me so I saw Ryan leaving and asked him and he told me you'd be in here. Do you wanna head home?" I say quietly.

"Yeah, we gotta pack still. Couns let us know that our plane leaves at 7 and we need to be there at 6:30."

I throw my head back into the chair and groan. He laughs at my clear disgust at the time. "Let's go then." He pulls me up from my chair and wraps his arms around me. I've finally been feeling more like myself as the days go on and I think he can tell.

We walk to his car and see that we are one of the very few people still here. I throw my bag into the backseat and get settled as Christian starts the car and I start to play some music from my phone. "Is there anything we need to get done for the wedding?" he asks me and I think of all of the things that need to get done but are super small. I guess us losing the pregnancy was in turn good; now we don't have to push back the wedding. As unfortunate as it is, I didn't really want to push back the wedding.

"Once we get back I am going with the girls, your mom, and my mom to try on dresses to get an idea and then narrow it down. We need to establish a guest list and then I can send out the Save The Dates once that happens."

"We can do that when we get back?" he questions and I nod, "Yeah, it's no rush." He reaches over and puts his hand on my thigh.

"How are you feeling though?" It's been about 2 and a half weeks since everything went down.

I sigh, "Better than alright but not 100%. I don't want to say I've forgotten about it because that's not true but I think I'm over the initial shock and am working my way toward a clearer state of mind and coming to terms with it and just figuring my way around it," I tell him and look over at him as he focuses on the road ahead.

"I ever tell you how insanely proud of you I am?"

I look down at his hand and smile, "Maybe a few times." He pulls into our driveway and parks in the garage. I start to get out when he gently grabs my bicep which makes me turn to look at him.

He leans in to kiss me for a few seconds and pulls back slowly as a smile creeps onto his lips. "I love you."

"I love you, too," I say but quickly lean back into him before getting out of the car.

"You have everything?" I ask Christian as I head into the kitchen to make some coffee for the both of us.

"Yeah, I think so." I look around at the kitchen and living room and see we are leaving it half cleaned. I had no time to clean last night because all we did was eat dinner, pack, and then we both fell asleep on the couch but woke up around 1 and went to our bed.

"Here," I hand him his coffee and start to walk out of the kitchen and to his car to load up. Today starts our 7-day away series in Miami and Philadelphia. I put my bags in the back of his car and get into the passenger seat, start the car, and wait for him to come out.

He gets in and gets settled, "I thought I was the one always running late?" I joke around with him.

"You still are," Okay, rude, "I just didn't want to get up this morning."

"Whenever I use that as an excuse you and Ryan look at me all weird and then he ends up rolling his eyes at me." We both laugh and I think about all the times the three of us have been together and it has been so fun. It'll be really weird to not have him around next year during the season. I don't think I'm ready for that.

"It's still crazy to me that you and Ryan act like your siblings half the time we're together and you still enjoy being around him."

"That's because he's like the older brother I never had and he's always looking out for me and you. He just doesn't tell you that he is because he comes and tells me. Don't tell him I told you that. You weren't supposed to know," I say giggling at his reaction to this 'news'.

"What does he tell you?"

"When you're pissed because you aren't hitting the ball or when we aren't scoring runs. Or just funny stupid shit I didn't know about."

"Like what?" he asks curiously as he merges onto I-94. Do I tell him? Nah.

I shrug, "Oh, you're gonna do me like that? I shrug again, "You're in for it now."

We arrive at the park and I quickly find Sarah. Jordan just let me know that he's sitting out this trip for a family emergency. "Hey, I'm not sure if you know but it's just us this trip. Jordan just texted me that he had to stay here."

"I happen to call him this morning and he told me he wasn't coming but I didn't ask why," she tells me and I nod and see the guys starting to board the buses. "He didn't tell me why either. Just wanted to make sure you knew."

I start to board the bus and see Ryan and Christian already sitting in a row, staring me down. "What?" I ask and sit next to Christian.

"You told him?" Ryan accuses me. "Technically I told him the overall type of conversations, that's it."

He shakes his head and pulls out his phone, "Larisa and the kids not coming out for this one?"

"Nope, they decided they would stay home for this one." I nod and lay my head on Christian's shoulder as we start to head to MKE. It's like I got this burst of energy right when I woke up and then now the tiredness is really settling in. Sleeping on the couch for a few hours isn't ideal since now I'm a little sore, but then waking up in the middle of the night to get into our bed had me up for about an hour before I fell back asleep.

"Looks like the tiredness is hitting you," Christian says quietly and I nod and turn my body to face him some more.

"Now it is." He laughs and leans down to kiss the top of my head.
