Brooklyn~
"Oh, Brooklyn, I got this for you," Sarah tells me as she walks through the aisle on the plane. "I couldn't find you earlier so I was hoping I would run into you on the plane." She hands me an iced coffee and I take it not wanting to be rude. She must've seen what I was drinking the past few days. It's nice, a little weird, but nice.
I reach in front of Christian to grab it from her, "Thank you. You didn't have to do this." I put it down next to the paperwork I've been working on before we take off.
"It's no problem. How long is the flight?"
"Four hours," I say and she nods and heads back to her seat. Christian looks at me and tries not to laugh but cannot contain himself. "Stop it," I say also not trying to laugh. Luckily, our plane didn't leave until 9:30 so we didn't have to be up at an ungodly hour. "What are you working on?" Christian asks me and leans over to see what I'm filling out.
"It's her intern report thing. I don't know, I was told I have to fill these out after every week and report it back to Carroll so she can earn her credits."
"Sounds fun," he tells me sarcastically. I gently nudge him with my elbow and laugh, "How is she doing?"
"It's her first week, so I would say pretty good. But, I also think we've gotten lucky on the end of the guys are getting hurt bad enough where they need our attention. Obviously, that's good for you guys. But, when she's still learning, I think it's best to learn in a high-stress environment to grasp everything and make quick decisions."
He nods as Ryan sits down next to him. Great, I get to listen to those two the entire flight, yay me. I sit back as we are starting to take off and wait for the signal to use my laptop again. I put in my music and try to block out the engine of the plane and the two sitting next to me who are going back and forth about something.
Once we are able to use our electronics again, I take out my laptop and do some more work. Ryan taps my arms and I look over at him. "What?"
"Would you quit working for once?" he asks and I shake my head, "No, I'm too busy to not work right now."
"Is being head trainer much different?"
"No, just a little more paperwork and emails to look at. I guess also just going over treatment stuff." He nods and faces toward the front of the plane. I get back to work and soon feel Christian lying his head down on my shoulder. I kiss the top of his head and quickly get back to work.
I stand up and stretch as the plane clears as we have arrived in Phoenix. It should not be allowed to be upwards of 100º at the beginning of September. Christian, Ryan, and I walk the short distance to the buses and get on taking in the cold A/C that blows into our seats. That has never felt better.
We all get situated in our seats when Sarah and Jordan come on and sit behind us. I don't think I've ever felt more suffocated by two people. "Hey, Brooklyn, are we heading straight to the stadium?" Jordan asks me as he sits down.
I turn around in my seat to talk to them, "Yeah. We will get settled while the guys do a light workout and then they will come see us and the game will start. We only have two games here so don't get too situated. Tomorrow night we head to Houston after the game," I say and smile as they both nod and I turn around back in my seat.
Christian silently laughs and puts his hand on my thigh as I let out a breath. "I'm going to lose my mind," I whisper to him as he laughs again.
I sit in the office and wait for the guys to show up. "Why didn't you tell me you were dating Christian?" Sarah says as she comes into the office and sits on the very uncomfortable chair. I look up from my laptop and laugh. I shrug, "Uhm, I guess I didn't realize I had to?" I say wondering why she's making a big deal about it. "I didn't mean it like that," she says as she laughs.
