Brooklyn~

I sit at my desk waiting for the guys to come in as I look through emails and check up on a bunch of shit. My phone lights up and catches my eye as I see Maggie texted me.

Maggie: Hey girl can I come over later after the game? It's really important and you need to know about it!

Huh, wonder what that's about. I text her back, "Yeah, of course. Everything okay?"

Maggie: Everything is more than okay!

Okay, well at least everything is good. I don't really feel like getting bad news tonight. I look back at my screen and quickly type out an email to Couns about some players.

"Are we doing anything tonight?" I hear from behind me taking me out of this trance I'm in. I feel like I never get a break anymore. I love that I got promoted, but, wow I need a real break. And I need it soon.

I turn to face Christian as he stands up against the doorframe. "Maggie is coming over after the game. She has to tell me something important. I don't know, she just texted me."

"Okay?" he says kind of questioning what it could be, just like I am. "Do you know what it is?" I shake my head and hand him my phone, "That's what I got sent. No idea what's it about."

He nods as I turn back to my email and sigh, "You doing okay?" he asks me sitting down on the couch. I shrug, "Yeah, I'm just really tired and I can't wait for the offseason. I just feel like I'm burnt out and exhausted from working."

"We're almost done," he tells me and I nod along with him knowing he's right. I hope the guys go far again in the postseason, but also, I'm tired and I need a break.

"I'll see you out there, okay?" he says getting up and coming over and kisses the top of my head. "Yeah, I'll see you out there."

"You can come over whenever. We just got home," I text to Maggie before heading up and changing into some comfier clothes.

Maggie: Okay! I'm heading over soon!

"Is she coming over soon?" Christian asks me as I change into one of his t-shirts and some athletic shorts. "Yeah, she should be over shortly."

I head downstairs and start throwing together a baked pasta dish Christian and I can enjoy after Maggie leaves. I put that in the oven and hear the doorbell ring. I jog over and see Maggie through the door standing there with a small box in her hand, that happens to have my name on it.

"Hey, how are you? Come on in," I say as I greet her with a hug. Christian comes down and hugs her too before we all head into the kitchen. "I'm doing great. Work is great. Life's crazy. Oh, and Will said hi. He wasn't able to come since he got called into work."

"He still works those weird hours?" I ask and she nods, "Yeah, once in a while he'll get called in. Not so much anymore, just today he happened to. But how are you guys?" she says as we make our way over to the island.

"Pretty good. We're headed back to the postseason, so that's exciting. I'm kind of over the season, so I'm just hoping these next few weeks go fast. Do you want anything to drink? Wine?"

"I'll just have a water." That's weird she never passes up wine. Well, I guess she is driving back, so I get why she didn't take my offer. We stand on opposite sides of the island as we all talk and catch up.

"So what's up? Your text freaked me out a bit," I say slightly laughing. "Oh, here, open this," she says as she slides the box over to me, "Wait, let me get out my phone," she says digging for her phone in her purse.
