Brooklyn~

"Are you coming out to the All-Star game with me again?" Christian asks as he stands at my office door waiting to go home.

I bring my attention to him, "Why would I miss it?" I say and he smiles down at his feet.

"Just wanted to make sure."

"When do we have to leave?" I ask because I know the All-Star Game is coming up soon. "We leave Saturday, July 9th around 8:30 and arrive in Dallas around 11," he tells me as I look at my calendar on my desk and also put it in my phone.

"I'm sure Couns and Stearns want me to go down with you guys anyway," I say and pencil it into my calendar.

He laughs, "Wouldn't put it past them."

I grab my laptop case and put it into my work bag and log out of the desktop computer. "Ready?" I ask and Christian nods and heads out of my office. He's oddly quiet as we walk down the tunnels toward his car. We went into extra innings and we won so that's good, but I can just tell he's tired, maybe even exhausted.

"Do you want me to drive?" I ask him as we approach his car, "I can tell you're tired."

He shakes his head, "I'm good, I promise. I just can't wait to go to sleep tonight."

We ride back to his place as I watch the dark suburbs pass by and head toward the brightly lit downtown Milwaukee. My eyes start to get heavy as we ride back. Well, I guess it's a good idea I didn't drive. I didn't even realize I was this tired. I rest my head back into the seat start to become drowsy.

"Guess you were just as tired as me," Christian whispers to me. I smile and open my eyes seeing we arrived at his house. "Yeah, maybe."

"C'mon," he says and gets out of the car and I follow him inside.

"Are you hungry?" I ask him as he heads to the stairs. "Yeah, a little bit."

"What do you want?" I ask him as I look in the fridge and freezer. "

Whatever is in there is just fine," he tells me and goes upstairs. I look around for some food and find some random frozen meal I can heat up quickly for us.

Christian comes back down with wet hair and no shirt on. "Where'd you find this?" he asks as I take it out of the oven and he comes over by me.

"It was in the back of the freezer and looked simple enough."

"Go change, I'll save you some."

I walk upstairs and put on some comfier clothes rather than my work uniform which consisted of a polo and khakis. I put on some spandex and left the sports bra I had on earlier. Eh, this is enough. I walk back downstairs and see Christian enjoying the mediocre meal as he sits on his phone at the island. I hop up onto the island and grab the fork I left out for myself. I take a bite and am thoroughly surprised, "This is better than I thought it would be," I say to Christian and laugh.

"Look at this video," he says and hands me his phone. It's one of his home runs from a few weeks ago at Miller Park. I watch as it focuses on him but then after he hits the ball, the camera turns toward the dugout and I see me celebrating his home run. I can tell he's watching me and my reaction. I smile and rewatch the video. "I love looking over into the dugout and watching you celebrate. Like, all I can think about is that's my girl and I can't wait to get back down into the dugout so I can see her," he says and I look up at him from his phone screen.

"You know why I celebrate every time?"

"I could think of a few reasons, but you're gonna tell me right?" he asks and I chuckle and nod. "Because I get to come home to that every single night. Because I am so, so proud of you. Because every day and night that you play, you make the days of little kids all across the country."

He stands up straight and stands in between my legs. "That's the goal right?" Christian says and rests his hands on my legs, "Make little kids' day. Oh, and yours?" he questions.

"Yeah, and mine," I say and he leans in to kiss me. I smile as his lips get closer to mine as they finally connect in what feels like ages.

"Guys, come on, we are going to be late if we don't leave right now," I say to Christian, Lo, Moose, Woody, and Devin. They all sit on their phones in the lobby.

"Okay, don't listen to me." I go look out the lobby window waiting for our van to take us to Globe Life Field. I turn back to them and shake my head as they still sit there, on their phones. "Do you guys want to go play baseball or not? I mean, I'll go play for you but I can't cover five positions," I say and they all look up at me with a weird expression.

"Only way to get your guy's attention," I say as they all head to the van.

"Thank you," I say letting out a sigh. I get on the bus and all of them look at me like I'm their mom.

"Why are you all staring at me like that?"

"Because you seem flustered and I think we don't know why," Moose says and they all agree. "Why are you so flustered?" Lo asks and I turn back to talk to him, "Because we have a lot to do today. You guys have practice, then some of you have the media banquet, then we have to eat dinner with everybody. And that's just today. Tomorrow? You all have an early wake-up call for the red carpet and then more media stuff. So, I'm a little stressed out. Because Couns and Stearns want me to keep track of all of you," I say out of breath. They all look stunned at my rambling. I turn around and silently groan.

"You're doing great," Christian says and kisses the side of my head. I let out a breath and lean more into Christian.

I stand at the doorframe watching the guys interact with each other from guys across the league. I sip on my drink and watch some of them dance with their significant others. It was a formal dinner with an after-party. So I picked out a short black dress that was strapless and had lace covering the fabric. "Hey, what are you doing over here all alone," Christian says wrapping his arms around my waist.

"Just observing," I say quietly.

"You okay?" he asks me.

"Yeah, just waiting for everything to be done," I say and sigh.

"We can head back. I'm pretty sure I'm almost done anyway."

"Only if you want."

"Let me go say goodbye to a few of the guys and we can head back, okay?"

I nod, "Okay, I'll be here."

"Go shower," Christian tells me and quickly kisses me.

"Can you unzip this?" I ask him and turn my back to him. Chills run down my spine as his fingers trail up to the top and down the length of my back.

"Thank you," I tell him and turn on the water and wait for it to warm up.

"Just a couple more days and we will be back to normal," he comes into the bathroom and kisses my neck, earning a soft moan from my lips.

"Can't wait."

I stand underneath the almost too hot water and just close my eyes and relax my body. My muscles. My mind. It's been going crazy for the past week getting everything ready for this week.

I feel Christian get in and press his body up against mine. These kinds of intimate moments are quite possibly my favorite. It's not always about sex when it comes to intimacy.

He leans into me and intertwines our fingers and wraps his arms around my waist. "I know you've been under a lot of pressure recently, and I wanted to tell you that I see how hard you work. I appreciate everything you do for me, the team, and everyone around you. I don't know if you been told that recently so I thought I would take it upon myself to do so."

I turn around and immediately kiss him as the water runs down our faces. He runs his fingers through my soaking wet hair before trailing his hands down my back and pulling me closer to him. "Thank you. I really appreciate it."
