Kai laid out 4 candles around the room, Bonnie pouring out salt to form a pentagon. Once they finished preparing the spell, they both sat in the center, cutting their palms to bound the spell to the house and to them. "Phasmatos salves nas ex malon, terra mora vantis quo incandis, et vasa quo ero signos."
As the two chanted, Elijah stood still as Klaus paced around the room. Hayley was upstairs, still in her slumber. Klaus finally came to a stop, mumbling to his brother, "I'm betting that after the little battle that went down in the Bayou, Marcel will try and bargain my blood to heal all the werewolf bites his men suffered to. And with this advantage, I'm going to demand the reigns of my city once more and that will be it."
"Marcel will not trade his high position for the men who got caught in the crossfires of the battle. He might ask for your cure kindly but he won't be so easy to bend," Elijah answered. "But I do reason with you, he has proven to become a problem. It happens so that I heard he has an iron-clad grip over the witches through a force so powerful, he plans to use it to rid us of this world."
Klaus chuckled, shaking his head. "Fool. The only thing that can end our days is the white oak stake and I ensure and switch its location every morning. Marcel does not have an upper hand in this situation."
"Then how do you explain his control over the witches?"
"It's not utterly difficult, a couple of seedlings of fear and you have an entire nation cowering at your feet." Klaus wandered to the cabinet, pouring out two drinks. He handed one to Elijah and brought his own to his lips.
"I would believe you if that were the case but I've got this terrible feeling that if we ignore this, he'll have the element of surprise," Elijah sighed, watching as Bonnie and Kai continued to chant.
Klaus downed his drink in one gulp, shattering the glass. "There's nothing he can do. Even if he manages to decimate me, I turned him so the death of my bloodline will return and mark him. Killing me means killing him and Marcel is not one to be illogical."
Before Elijah could counter, Bonnie took a deep breath, waking from the spell. "It's done, nothing without my blood or Kai's blood in its system will enter into this house." She rose, approaching Elijah. She held her freshly wounded hand out and he tipped the glass of bourbon. Bonnie fisted her hands, droplets of blood blending into the alcohol. Kai cut his wrist and Klaus silent drank from it, wiping his lips.
"What is this vision you fear so much of?" Elijah asked, tipping his drink down his throat.
"My psychic abilities have returned and I saw..." Bonnie caught her sentence, clearing her throat. "The witches of New Orleans were performing some sort of spell. There were 4 teenagers, all in white dresses." The distinction of the memory was now clearer. "And there was a red-haired woman. Hayley was delivering the baby and there was so much blood. It got on one of the girl's dresses as the baby came out. The older witch had this necklace, swinging above Hayley as she screamed."
"And?" Klaus urged her to elaborate.
"And the witch slit her throat. The teens took the baby and I doubt they were going to tuck it to bed in a good way."
"They took my baby?" Hayley's small voice brought all their attention to her as she slowly entered the room. Her hand flew to her stomach, a small bump already coming along the way. "Bonnie, what's going on?"
"You're safe now." Bonnie gave her a small smile. "You already know Klaus, but this is Elijah Mikaelson."
He walked up to her, heels of his flat shoes clopping behind him as he reached her. He held out a hand, silently greeting her with his stern eyes. Hayley's eyes flickered to his for a couple of seconds before she pushed past him, marching towards Kai. Klaus chuckled, concealing his amusement at the rejection. Hayley looked mad when she spoke to Kai, eyes slowly hinting gold. "The Bayou. We need to go back. They were protecting me, I'll be safe there. You're lucky you have me to tell Jackson not to kill you after what you did."
Kai rolled his eyes. "What part of 'safe now' makes you want to go back to the hotspot of danger? There's probably still a couple of vampires there, the ones that aren't dead dead."
"And what do you mean, what did Kai do?" Bonnie narrowed her eyes.
Elijah quickly recovered from the bold rejection, tucking his hand in his pocket. "You are not going back to Bayou. You're staying here, where it is safe for you and the child."
Hayley snorted, crossing her arms. "You can't force me to stay here, I'll be a prisoner. If this baby does live to see day, you really don't want me to tell it you held me in captivity by the first trimester."
"You're right, if that baby does live to see another day," Klaus said, cocking his head to Elijah. "So which is it, brother? Let this little wolf head back to the trenches of death and reside with her savage family or let her stay here, with a growing fear of whether I'm going to kill her on a Tuesday or a Thursday?"
"Niklaus, I have much faith in you and I simply do not believe that you will end this woman's life."
"What, pray tell, are you going to do about it?" As he said this, Klaus left arm revealed a dagger.
Elijah adjusted his footing, slightly unfazed by the weapon. "It would be such a shame to have one immortal fight against this unknown arsenal Marcel obtains. Not to mention, once you come back to your senses after a couple of years, you'll drown in sorrows and regrets from what you've done to the family you could have grown."
Klaus sighed, circling around Hayley. She remained still, watching the interaction between the two brothers. "All this chaos from a simple one nightstand." His arm jerked out, hands wrapping around Hayley's neck. "Admit it, the child is Tyler's and not mine." Hayley began to choke, face going all red.
"Niklaus--" Elijah snarled, flitting to his brother. Klaus deflected him, throwing Elijah back against the wall.
Bonnie rose her hands, whispering. "Occidere--" Klaus dropped Hayley immediately and flitted to Bonnie. He held her from the back, hands hovering around her neck now.
Kai raged, gaze flaming as he began. "Prohibere--"
"Continue and I snap Bonnie Bennett's precious neck," Klaus warned with a sinful grin and Kai paused, still angry.
Hayley was still gasping for breath by the time Elijah picked himself up to his feet. "Niklaus, listen. For godsakes, for once in your life, listen."
Because of how perpetual his brother was being, Klaus halted for a second, his heightened senses on Hayley. They zeroed in on a faint thump, amplifying as the seconds flew by. For the first time, Klaus realized that the rumors were true. That child, heart beating so naturally and wildly, was his.
