"Hayley, get out of here," Bonnie screamed, loud enough for the Heretics to hear. Nora tried to burst through the door but it was shut for some reason. Mary Lou pounded frantically.
Hayley scrambled to her feet and aimed for the door. Tyler blocked her but he didn't touch her. "Tyler," Hayley scoffed, eyes still fresh with tears.
He shook his head. "Rayna called me before Damon had eyes on her and told me about the baby. I thought she was lying. I love you, Hayley but if this baby is Klaus's, it deserves what's coming to it."
"Phasmatos tribum nas ex veras," Bonnie started and Rayna shook her head.
"I know you, Bonnie Bennett. I know that you haven't slept in weeks and you're trying to sustain your returning psychic abilities." Rayna was unaffected by the spell sent her way. "But I don't want to hurt you. My job is to take care of unnatural occurrences and that includes the baby. My ancestors have warned me about it."
"It's just a baby, Rayna," Bonnie panted heavily, feeling trapped in the small building.
The hunter wasn't focused on her anymore. Instead, she was stalking towards Hayley, knife in hand. She warned the wolf, "If you resist, the knife will take your life too."
Hayley backed into the wall, screaming for Tyler, screaming for God, screaming for anyone. "Please, don't take my baby away. Tyler, don't do this."
Rayna was moments upon sending the blade through Hayley's stomach. Out from the shadows, Elena and Caroline flitted to the hunter. Elena snapped Rayna's neck and Caroline hit Tyler's head, knocking him unconscious.
Hayley sagged against the wall, neck sweating. Finally, the door opened and Mary Lou and Nora ran in.
"What the hell is happening?" Nora demanded, taking in the ruckus of the Mystic Grill.
Mary Lou approached Hayley who slid to the floor, silently crying. She placed her hand to her forehead. "The baby can sense the distress, you need to calm down." Hayley didn't seem to be listening, closing her eyes.
Caroline straightened, eyes landing on Hayley. "She's...she's holding Klaus's baby?" Bonnie hated how Caroline's voice broke, her face mirroring the sentiment. Elena approached, wrapping her hands around her friend.
"We need to leave now. Rayna is not dead, she's just one Everlasting down," Nora declared as Mary Lou pulled the wolf to her feet.
Bonnie nodded and approached her friends, joining the hug. "Things have gotten out of control." The three remained there, in each other's arms. Caroline tried hard to contain the tears with her head nestled in the crook of Bonnie's shoulder. "I'm leaving for good," she stated and they all snapped back in shock.
"What?" Elena said the same time Caroline muttered, "Why?"
"Hayley needs more help now that she's alone. And I've always been thinking about leaving," Bonnie shrugged, pulling away. Now she had tears in her eyes and she tried to wipe them away.
"Where will you go?" Caroline asked, sniffling.
"I honestly don't know. New Orleans? Klaus should properly know about this baby. Maybe you can come visit if we do end up going there."
Caroline shook her head a bit. "I don't think I'll be ready to go there yet...to see him."
Bonnie completely understood and smiled. "I'll miss you guys."
Elena was crying now and she gave her friend a tight hug. "When you're ready to come back, don't hesitate okay?"
She nodded frantically. "I will. Say goodbye to everyone for me, okay? We don't have time."
They promised to and Bonnie said her last farewells before stepping out of the Mystic Grill. Nora and Mary Lou were waiting, Hayley in the car. "To New Orleans?"
"The Mikaelson family is powerful. And if this baby is truly a miracle from Klaus, they'll be the best to protect it," Bonnie answered, texting Kai her whereabouts.
"We need to disperse," Mary Lou stated, eyes glancing at the building. "If we're clumped up, it'll bring more attention and enemies to the baby."
"That is true," Nora agreed. "Mary Lou and I will find Val and try to discover more about this baby while you take Hayley to the Mikaelson's."
Bonnie understood her mission, realizing that she was saying goodbye to this set of friends too. She hugged them silently, trying to memorize the little things. "See you soon."
"Goodbye, Bonnie Bennett," Nora waved as she watched the witch slide into the drivers seat. Through the windshield she waved as well, finally pulling the car away.
Bonnie drove to the border, parking. Hayley, who had fallen asleep, woke up. Bonnie envied her for that, the ability to fall asleep carelessly. The wolf glanced around. "Where are we going?"
"New Orleans."
"What? No--"
"Tyler hates you now. We need as much protection as the Mikaelson's have. It's more than the Heretics and I can provide," Bonnie clarified. She opened the door then, taking a step out. She pulled out her phone, confused. Kai was supposed to meet her--
"Hey, BonBon," his thrilling voice caused Bonnie to jump. She turned to him, taken off guard when he planted a kiss on her lips. "Ready for a road trip?"
Bonnie's mind flew through her memories at that word, road trip. She shook her head and smiled goofily at him. "You scared me. I almost thought something happened." Because that was what love was. Being scared for your other half when they weren't around, wondering if they were hurt, dead, in trouble.
She hooked her arms around his waist and looked up into his eyes as he said, "I was getting something." With that, Kai pulled out a bracelet, the material blinking in the sun. When he dropped it in Bonnie's palm, she recognized the metal. Iron. "I got Valerie to help me make this, it'll keep the nightmares at bay for now."
Bonnie smiled at the jewelry and slipped it on, admiring the silver gleam. "Thank you." She stood on her tiptoes, pecking his lips before saying, "I love you."
Kai laughed, shaking his head. "If I knew a bit of jewelry was the way to your heart, it would have saved us a lot of time." Bonnie shoved him playfully and Kai led her to the passenger side of the car. He took the driver's side, the car finally moving once more. Hayley was silent in the back and Kai didn't bother glancing at her. He turned to Bonnie and said, "You can sleep now, BonBon."
The last thing she remembered before closing her eyes was the warm smile he gave her. Bonnie felt her heart explode at that, not sure if the feelings she had towards him were even real. It felt too good to be true, too happy. Bonnie Bennett didn't get happy endings. She got death and tears and broken hearts. Once more, she let herself believe that this was permanent, that this type of love would last forever. This wasn't the same type as Enzo's, it was oddly different.
Bonnie only hoped that the world wouldn't try and break her anymore now that she was happy.
