Kai held Bonnie close to his chest, placing her in the driver's seat. He clipped her seatbelt and pushed her head furthest from the door. She was still beyond unconscious and Kai stared at her, sighing. He had no clue what had happened, Kai knew he had taken up all her magic to a point where she could learn to grow it in the future. But that scream, that energy she released...it was almost as if the overwhelming pain had come crashing down on her so brutally, the magic burst out to protect her. Kai swallowed, praying that she hadn't heard the conversation regarding how he had killed Elena.
He shook it off, bending into the car to retrieve her cell phone in the back pocket. It was locked and he quickly swiped Bonnie's warm thumb across the screen. Kai looked through the contacts, finding Caroline's number. The way she had run out of the Salvatore house told him she would do whatever it takes to get her best friend back. Especially with Elena back, temporarily according to her, losing another one was too much for Caroline. The line rang for a while and Kai shut the door, tapping his foot impatiently until it was finally picked up. "Do you have them?"
Caroline sounded in pain and grunted through the phone, "Something happened, I think Jo caught on. The twins siphoned off me and now I can't leave because my sunlight ring is not working for some reason. It must have been because of them--"
"Where are they now?"
Caroline paused before looking around. "I don't know...the house is empty." Kai cursed, running a hand through his chin in anger. "Jo must have taken them to safety."
He highly doubted that and hung the phone, overcoming the urge to smash it on the ground. He was going to bring the twins to his father, in hopes to get their trust. That way, it would be easier to siphon the object their magic is in and problem solved. The tank of the Gemini magic was massive, too big to hold in one person so it was distributed through the members and the next twin generations. But Kai could handle it, he was one of a kind. He was different.
He sank into the driver's seat, glancing at Bonnie's unconscious figure. Kai grabbed her hand, caressing it softly. "I'm sorry BonBon, but I can't rescue you yet. I know you'll never agree with my plan so for now, enjoy your beauty sleep."
It was silent and it was almost as if he expected her to speak back. Kai made a quick exit out of Mystic Falls, nearing the border. He was pummelling the gas, with the need to get back to Iowa as soon as possible. Only the car was moving so fast, he did not notice the man standing in the street, anger covering his face. Immediately, Kai recognized the beast, the original copy, Klaus Mikaelson.
At the moment, Kai knew swerving out the way would only cause them casualties and that only left the best option-- "Hit and run," he muttered to himself.
But Klaus had other plans in mind, his hands landing on the hood of the car that was seconds upon hitting him and pushed the vehicle with little force. The car jerked and Kai and Bonnie were thrown forward, almost out the windshield. His forehead was more bruised now and Kai was getting pissed. He snapped his fingers, attempting to snap Klaus's neck. But when he did, Klaus did not drop. Instead, his head snapped back into place and he looked even angrier than before.
Kai cursed, taking a deep breath. They were both angry. Klaus flitted to the door, throwing the hinges open and snatching Kai out. "So you're the idiot who spelled Caroline to a point where her skin was toxic to my touch? Pathetic," he spat, throwing Kai to the floor. "I'll have you know that fancying someone can only go so far if you cannot touch them." Klaus was feral, holding Kai by the collar.
He only chuckled, raising his hands. Klaus began to twitch, his head felt like exploding fireworks. Eventually, Kai was set down and Klaus grunted at the pain. "Excuse me, grandpa. If you don't mind, I've got things to get to but I'm sure we can raincheck. I was looking forward to meeting the almighty hybrid. But you gotta realize you need to book the appointment first." Kai grinned wider, waving his other hand.
Klaus had knelt on the ground, holding his head like it was too heavy. Kai was so concentrated on Klaus that he did not realize that a newcomer had emerged behind him, kicking his legs soo hard, you could hear the bones snap. Kai loosened his hold on Klaus enough for him to overcome it. Kai fell to the floor, wincing at the stinging pain.
Rebekah winked at him, arms crossed. "Family is the only one allowed to bully Niklaus. All though you have the stunning attractiveness, you don't look like family to me," she mused as Klaus straightened. Kai coughed, blood leaking at his fingertips. He was as confused as the two Originals. "What's wrong with him?" Rebekah addressed her brother who was snarling deeply.
Klaus's phone rang and he broke eye contact with Kai to pick it up. He turned, answering with an angry tone.
Kai laughed on the floor, wiping his bloody lip and answered Rebekah's question. "You know how twins form a bond when they get out the womb?" She remained silent, narrowing her eyes. "I believe this is my father's way to summon me through Jo. It means he has her."
Rebekah shook her head in bafflement. "I suppose everyone has family drama then?"
Kai nodded his agreement as Klaus returned, hanging the phone up. "That was Caroline, she's asked me to retrieve Bonnie. I can only assume that kidnapping a young maiden doesn't shy away from the sins you've created."
Kai shrugged, propping himself on his elbows. He muttered the next words so abruptly, they hadn't registered it until Kai had disappeared. "Invisél."
Both Originals eyes searched the empty road, completely empty save for them. Kai was gone. Rebekah flashed to the dented car, swinging the door open. Klaus followed after her, cursing when they took in the scene. "Bonnie is gone."
Klaus growled, kicking the remains of the vehicle.
