Bonnie woke to the buzzing of her phone. She stretched before reaching for the screen, the light blinding her. Kai was at the other end of the bed, snoring heavily and hanging off the bed. Bonnie swiped into her device and read Caroline's message. She quickly put it away after she sent the last ones and threw the covers back. In her shorts and tank top with the morning cold, Bonnie shivered on her way downstairs.

Her stomach grumbled heavily, especially since she was supposed to have cookies last night. Bonnie quickly set her cereal up and jumped when Kai appeared, shirt off. She nearly dropped her bowl of cereal when she took in the abs and bare skin. "Kai."

He yawned, reaching for the fridge and turned to her with a milk carton. "What? Good morning." He gulped the milk and burped once he placed it down.

Bonnie grimaced, shielding her eyes. "Are you serious? This isn't your house, put on a goddamn shirt and don't drink from the carton." She snatched the milk from his hands and frowned even deeper. "Now I have to purify it."

Kai laughed, planting his hands on the counter and watched her toss the milk away. "Aw, do I make you uncomfortable?"

She gagged, shoving a spoonful of cereal in her mouth. "It's disgusting." Bonnie hated how she knew she was lying for the shirtless part. "You need to leave."

Kai's smirk was wiped off and straightened himself. "Seriously?"

"I doubt that my friends will be happy if they found out that you're in my house, baking me cookies, reading my diary, sleeping in my bed, waking up shirtless for some reason and drinking my milk." Bonnie sat on the stool and focused on her breakfast, not trusting her eyes to not look below his face.

"What about you?" The question caught her so off guard, Bonnie struggled to find an answer and Kai took a closer step. Bonnie held a breath as he leaned in towards her head. "Do you want to stop hanging out with me?"

Bonnie could hear the smile in his voice and it sent multiple shivers down her spine and body. There was tingling in places she didn't want to mention and she closed her eyes. "I don't know, Kai."

Kai was satisfied with her answer and he pushed away. "I'll put on a shirt, BonBon." He made his way upstairs quickly and Bonnie finished up her cereal and tossed it in the sink. Kai quickly returned but he had a handful of clothes in his hands. "I'm back and I brought you some clothes." Bonnie stood there awkwardly, wrapping her arms around herself. "You looked cold and I just concluded that since I was already up there, I might as well just bring you something warm."

Bonnie held her hand out for the clothes, taking in the hoodie and sweatpants. "Thank you," she said awkwardly. "Christmas is in like two weeks, that's why it's cold."

"Right. You guys celebrate Christmas."

"You've never celebrated Christmas?" Bonnie's eyes widened.

"Never. I was usually grounded on Christmas and I spent most of my life in the prison world so..."

"No wonder you're so cranky at the world. You need to celebrate Christmas, at least this year." Bonnie said.

"Sure," he shrugged. "As long as it's with you."

Bonnie turned to him with an annoyed expression. "Okay, you gotta stop that, it's making things more difficult than it needs to be."

"I'm sorry, I just can't help it. I'm doing this thing where I'm trying to be better for you and blunt honesty is how I'm flowing." Kai scratched the back of his head, his cheeks turning rosy.

Bonnie headed to the washroom, ignoring the blush. "Just to clarify, I'm not looking for anything." She didn't give him a chance to respond and disappeared down the hall. She then entered the bathroom and shut the door behind her. Bonnie stared at the knob for what seemed like forever before she started changing. Eventually, she finished up and ran a hand through her tangled hair. She looked in the mirror, wondering why she was doing this to herself. Why she was letting Kai get comfortable, get close. Every pore in her body told her it was wrong, so terribly wrong. But at the same time, her heart pulsed to the idea of Kai and it was just a confusing concept.

Bonnie reached for the mirror, slowly tracing her reflection with precision. It didn't take long for it to shatter under her fingertips, the spider-like webs stretching across the mirror. Blood began to leak from her finger and Bonnie pulled back, wincing. At least this confirms I still have magic, she thought. She finally took a step out of the room, leaving her pj's behind. As she walked out, a sneeze erupted from her nose.

She sniffled as she arrived back in the living room. Kai was sitting on the couch a play remote in hand. Bonnie approached slowly, taking in that the most sociopathic person she had ever met was anxiously playing a child video game. She sat at the furthest corner of the couch and he didn't even notice. Bonnie spent the next 10 minutes staring at the screen until she decided to go up and get her phone. She returned back to her seat and sent Caroline a quick text, Have you guys found anything yet?

With that, she placed the cellphone aside and snuggled in the blanket, preparing to sleep. At that moment, Kai decided to glance over. "Are you hungry?"

She shook her head, not feeling like speaking. Kai's gaze lingered on hers and she stared back before he rose from the couch. He returned with two bags of chips, one sour dill onion and the other BBQ. "I want the sour dill." Her hand abruptly jutted out for the bag and Kai laughed.

He sat back down. "Well since you asked so nicely, of course, BonBon." Kai handed her the bag and switched the TV to Netflix. "You wanna watch something?"

"No." She opened the bag and shoved a couple of chips in her mouth before a series of sneezes ejected from her nose. Bonnie's nose was now puffy and runny. "I just want to eat and sleep."

Kai nodded and settled back into the couch, eating his food. It was comfortable silence until Bonnie's phone rang. She placed the chip bag aside, sucking on her fingers before picking it. Kai found himself staring at those freshly licked fingers more than he should have.

"Hello?"

"Bonnie," Damon said on the other line. "We found a way to bring Elena back."

"So dramatic."
