Everyone got in, Matt and Jeremy seating themselves in the back. "Everyone got seatbelts?" Kai asked, looking through the review mirror.
"Why would they need seatbelts? They've survived worse," Bonnie said, pulling out into the road.
"Well, they're in a car with a very friendly witch who tends to...I don't know...catch mood swings and get the need to kill something every once in a while. I am only helping you out by giving you a warning and a safety precaution," Kai answered, rolling down the window for air.
Bonnie deadpanned, slowly turning to face him.
"I'm joking around, BonBon. You guys didn't think I have a sense of humour?" Kai shook his head in disbelief. His jokes seemed like promises. He then leaned forward, switching the radio on. "Country music, here I come."
He switched through stations before settling on one.
"Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, growin' like a breeze, country roads, take me home, to the place I belong, West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads," Kai sang highly off-pitch. "Come on, sing with me. Take me homeeee, West Virginia!"
"So you're a sociopathic witch and you like country music? Pick a struggle," Bonnie rolled her eyes, gripping the wheel. His voice was wretched.
"Don't be hateful," Kai pouted then sighed. "Fine, how about this?" The tune began to play. "I got the horses in the back, horse tack is attached, hat is matte black, got the boots that's black to match, ey, ridin' on a horse, ha, you can whip your Porsche, I been in the valley, you ain't been up off that porch, now, can't nobody tell me nothin', you can't tell me nothin'!" Kai began to bounce in the seat, singing his heart out. "I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road, I'm gonna rideeeee till I can't no mo."
Bonnie bared her teeth, swerving out to the side of the road, cars honking and skidding out the way. Kai jerked forward, head hitting the dashboard. He hissed, anger quickly replacing his happy mood. Prior to his recent warning, Kai was the only one not wearing a seatbelt.
Kai raised his head, a bruising mark already forming on his forehead. Bonnie composed the vehicle back to normal on the road, a smile plastered on her face. "Has anyone ever kicked you out of karaoke? There's a bold reason."
"I can actually marry you, Bonnie," Jeremy said at the back, smiling at Kai's obvious anger.
The left side of his mouth twitched, staring at Jeremy's brown eyes in the back. Kai then whispered a quick spell and Bonnie opened her mouth to warn him. "Relax, I said I wouldn't kill them but I didn't say I wouldn't punish them."
"What did you do?" Matt examined Jeremy.
"Do me a favour and try singing yourself, John," Kai mused, sitting comfortably in his eat, his signature smirk returning. Jeremy wanted to correct him, It's Jeremy, but his voice didn't come out. He was mute. "Now that is what I call time-out-corner."
"Enough with your parlour tricks. First Caroline and Tyler, now this?" Bonnie snarled.
"I gotta find some type of way to enjoy myself now that I'm evilness-free. I see that you're trying to convince me that being who I am is a terrible addiction." Kai chuckled. "And I'm the only one allowed to marry you. Except, we're not going to do it human style. I might propose in a way where you have to choose one of your friends to sacrifice as a wedding ring...? Or maybe our vows, we'll figure it out. But then again, that's too much death so I might just let you pick a town for me to wipe out, that way, we can have our own little kingdom. Klaus Mikaelson style. Wait, isn't he with Caroline? I mean, the gal did date the whole crew. One of those girls that wants everyone. Sucks for her I suppose, it came to a point where she had to sleep with the entire crew. Lucky for me, I only have a girl in mind."
"Oh my god, will you just shut up?" Matt exclaimed.
Kai frowned, eyes threatening. "Do you want me to rip your tongue out? As far as I know, I'm technically not killing you but I won't have to hear your voice ever again."
Matt scoffed, shaking his head as he watched out the window. The trees were whizzing past them.
"This is why we would never work. You can't threaten my friends," Bonnie found herself saying. At that, everyone glanced at her in shock.
"Glad to see you're considering, BonBon. If that's the case, I love you Matt Donavon, I will never inflict harm on you ever again." Kai then removed the muting spell on Jeremy and smiled.
Jeremy cleared his throat, grimacing at Kai. "She's not thinking, Bonnie didn't eat this morning."
"Shut up, mini Gilbert. She can speak for herself," Kai said harshly and turned to Bonnie once more. "I suppose you haven't eaten. Here, I snatched a handful of candy for the trip out but you can have them."
"Was that after or before you killed the waitress that worked her ass off to serve you?" Bonnie asked, not glancing at the handful of energy and sugar.
"Don't be like that, BonBon. If I wanted to kill you as well, you'd be gone. So no, I did not poison these. Good that you asked for clarification, we love a carefully cautious woman."
Bonnie sighed, glancing at the golden wrappers. She picked two up, quickly slipping them into her mouth. Jeremy and Matt were silent and Kai was happy, humming to the tune instead of singing.
Soon, they arrived at the destination, stopping at the town square Caroline them meet at. Matt glanced around the square, Bonnie sending quick texts to Ric.
"Why would Damon want to wake Sybil? She preys on sinful humans," Matt asked.
"Is it not obvious? Damon is his own breed of sinner. He wants Sybil to sniff this out and kill him because he doesn't want the guilt of Elena's death to eat him alive," Bonnie said, tucking her phone in her back pocket.
Right there, the very visible streak of blonde hair shone through the small crowd. Caroline soon arrived and held her arms out for Bonnie. They enveloped each other, laughing in the embrace. "Oh my god, Bonnie. I missed you so much."
Bonnie chuckled in her shoulder, rubbing Caroline's back. "I can't say I've missed the loud shrill of your voice."
Caroline scoffed playfully, pulling back. "How are you? How are the others--" She was cut off when her gaze fell upon Kai. She hissed, features turning feral. "What is he doing here?"
"Hello, Caroline," Kai said, slowly waving his fingers. "I love the hair, by the way. Is it bleached?"
Caroline began to take a strong step forwards, snarling until Bonnie halted her. "No. We can't get rid of him until we are certain that Damon won't open the vault again."
Caroline tried to contain her composure, tears forming in her eyes. "He killed Elena," her voice broke, as she said to Bonnie.
Bonnie nodded slowly, swallowing down the tears that threatened to fall as well. "I know. We'll take care of that later. But not before we make sure our friends are safe from danger."
Caroline nodded before stepping back. Matt stepped out, choosing his words carefully. "Where's Klaus?"
"He went back to Lousiana to test out his batch of hybrids. I'm pretty sure he is also on the hunt from a mob of werewolves. I don't even know. Typical Klaus business," Caroline shrugged.
"What do you expect, he's the oldest, dangerous vampire-werewolf alive," Jeremy said.
"Where is he?" Bonnie cut in.
Caroline already knew who she was talking about. "Valerie's got him in a house."
"Valerie? Who is Valerie?" Kai spoke up, confused.
"I am deeply sorry Bonnie, but I won't keep any promises when it comes to shutting him up for good," Caroline said, taking a deep breath.
Bonnie shrugged. "I'm on that road with you too, don't worry."
"Anyways, let's go find that bastard," Bonnie didn't feel an ounce of regret, letting Caroline lead her.
