There was a ringing, the singing of dark shadows and bad spirits echoing around Bonnie as she woke. Her head was against a sand-dirt-like floor with not much light as her eyes shuttered open. She rose, stumbling a bit. She felt bricked walls, the familiar texture coming back. Her vision adjusted to the dark and Bonnie concluded that she was in the Salvatore cell. "Kai?" She called out, breathing shortening. Bonnie found the door, pounding restlessly with anticipation. "Elena? Caroline, please let me out." Nobody answered, the metal ring of the door echoing around. Her fists numbed as she pummelled the door.
There were faint footsteps and Bonnie froze, waiting for a voice. Something sizzled and light finally seeped into the cell through the barred window in the door. Damon appeared, peering in. "Hello, BonBon."
Bonnie reached through the bars, whispering. "Cor impetum."
Nothing happened and Bonnie was confused, surging her magic out again. Damon chuckled, clicking his tongue. It was now that she realized they were chains wrapped around her wrists. "I gotta give it to you, Bonnie. Your acting skills are on point. I mean, seriously, you might have to try out for one of those actresses. Who is the latest trending actress out there anyways? Jennifer Lawrence?"
Bonnie squeezed the bars, pleading. "Damon, don't lock me in here. I'm not an animal."
"I know you're not but I can't let you out because you're a danger to the dear citizens of Mystic Falls."
"I promise, I won't hurt anybody--"
Damon tsked. "I can't take your word for it, BonBon. But you won't have to sit for too long. We found a way to get the black magic out of you."
Bonnie froze, eyes widening and shrinking at the same time. "You didn't-" It was too quick.
"Yes, we did," he said in a singsongy voice, throwing his head back. Damon had a flask, which he took a long swig from, and continued. "You've been out for 2 weeks." Bonnie didn't know how to respond anymore. "We've kept you at bay while Valerie and Nora searched for the solution. And guess what? They found the best way."
Bonnie chuckled, shaking her head. "I've already made an imprint in Bonnie's body. Trying to separate us will only threaten her life, there is no best way."
"Oh, but there is." Kai emerged, hands in pockets and Damon rolled his eyes.
"Get the hell out, Parker, I called dibs to talk to her first."
Kai pushed past him, utterly ignoring Damon. "Ever heard of a Humani Corporis syringe?"
A dark instrument. Magic always needed a balance. A spell can be done but it can also be undone. "My sisters and brothers destroyed that damn thing--" Bonnie--the black magic was saying. The purpose of the syringe was to cleave souls, separating the good and the bad. Back in the day, it was used to expel possessing demons.
"Oh, really?" Kai's eyebrows raised, hinting at something. He pulled out a thick needle, rustic and sharp. "Funny how I found this on my way to the Mystic Grill." He smiled, examining the big needle in his grasp. "To destroy an instrument of magic, you need to use the elements of nature. Water, fire, earth and air. I guess your sisters and brothers didn't watch Avatar: The Last Airbender. These elements are very important."
Bonnie blanched, completely trapped in their plots. "I--"
"Don't even bother begging, your doctor's appointment is set for this afternoon," Kai interrupted, tucking away the weapon.
"Let's make a deal. You give me the doppelgänger, Elena Gilbert, and once I'm done with her, I will give up your Bonnie Bennett. No casualties from my marking, no damage." Bonnie ignored his warning, desperate at this point. She hadn't done what needed to be done, it was too early. How exactly motivated were these fools to save the witch bitch?
