Bonnie knew that she should have returned to the compound to rest after the onslaught of spells she did but she restrained herself from doing so. After her declaration about Kai, she wanted to avoid Rebekah and Hayley. The pregnant wolf had better things to be concerned about and deep down, Bonnie didn't want Rebekah to go after Kai. Mainly because she knew that if he were to die, it should be under her control. But she wasn't at that point yet and she hoped it never got to that regardless of what he did.
So she followed Diego and the vampires to an empty warehouse at the edge of the city. She remained silent as the interrogation unveiled before her. To no surprise, none of them broke.
"Doesn't Klaus need you?" Thierry muttered beside her. They both watched Diego deliver a punch to one of the male witches, ordering answers. Nothing.
"I am my own person. I don't need to return to Klaus like I'm a dog on a leash. And at the end of the day, everything I do is for Hayley," she responded.
Thierry nodded, letting silence settle between them before he said, "Things got worse the moment you and the Mikaelson's showed up. Marcel was running the city—"
"Marcel was controlling the city."
"And you think Klaus will do any better? You heard what he said. His way or no way. You can't seriously think that it will be better than Marcel's."
Bonnie shook her head, pushing from the wall she was leaning on. "Stop trying to get into my head. Once we take care of the witches, we will talk about the future of the city." She didn't give him a chance to respond and approached the witch Diego was working on.
He was panting and took a step back. "He's not speaking. None of them are speaking. This is useless."
"You haven't tried all the methods," Bonnie said. She entered the line of vision of the witch, pinning her eyes to his head. She grabbed it, digging her fingers into the roots of his hair. The last time she did something like this, she was inside the vulnerability of Kai's head. Bonnie ignored the memory and closed her eyes, diving face-first into his mind. The witch began to scream and Bonnie didn't even hesitate. She searched through his memories, his emotions like she was looking through polaroids. But with her inexperience, she wasn't aware that she was disorganizing his brain, making him mentally ill. Eventually, she found a valuable piece of information. She stepped away, straightening as she announced. "There is a vase. They are using the blood from all the vampires they sacrificed to create a tether between life and death for taking Hayley's child's life. To direct the magic to their ancestors."
"I'm pretty sure that goes against Klaus's rules," Felicity muttered.
"I know where the vase is. Once you find it, break it," she ordered, reciting the location of what she saw. Before any of them could get into action, they froze in sync, their nose flaring. Bonnie narrowed her eyes in question. "What?"
"Blood," Diego hissed and flitted outside. Bonnie followed after him with a jog, all the other vampires ahead of her.
Bonnie felt the air wipe out her lungs when she witnessed what stood before her. Kai. But he was drenched in blood right to the collar of his neck. And he was laughing.
*
"Hey BonBon," he waved with a scarlet-stained finger. "I know you don't want to see me right now but I just came to check-in."
Thierry snarled, the eyes of the vampires acting out in hunger. "That's human blood."
Kai glanced at his hands. "Oh, this?" He tucked them behind his back like it did something. His shirt, his pants, even his face was leaking with dark blood. "Just a little accident."
Bonnie pushed past the barricade of vampires and found herself saying, "What the hell did you do, Kai?" She demanded with a harsh cold tone.
"Oliver," he stated simply and Bonnie felt her head go blind. She had said that name out of spite— "I didn't know which Oliver you were talking about so I convinced myself, what's the harm in killing every Oliver in town? It was slightly challenging but being a witch has its advantage, am I right?" He mused, shrugging casually. "And then I became paranoid and thought maybe I heard it wrong, maybe it was Oscar, maybe it was Orion, so I killed them too. As you can see, I had quite a mess to clean up. Thinking about it, I should have taken a shower before coming here but you and I both know that you'll always be a number one priority."
Bonnie stumbled on her feet, bile and vomit stirring at the pit of her stomach from the revelation. But she forced herself to power through it. "We broke up, Kai." The vampires seemed bored and annoyed already but Bonnie didn't care.
"We didn't do anything. You broke up with me. I don't remember being on the same page, I don't remember signing anywhere," he said. "I still think that we need to have a talk about it."
Father Kierran wasn't going to be happy. A couple of hours in the peace and they already had troubles. "I—"
The simultaneous snapping of necks erupted from around her and Bonnie flinched. The vampires dropped down to the ground in one fell swoop. "Sorry, I think we need some privacy. You were saying?"
Bonnie's breath caught and she found herself closing her eyes. Here they were again, on different sides of the room. "Kai," she breathlessly pleaded. "Let's move past this."
Kai took a step close, face confused. "What do you mean? This is just a little disagreement, we'll get over it. I actually have a proposition for you. The Initial—"
"This isn't just a disagreement, you cheated on me," Bonnie screeched, the day warmth around them growing cold.
"What? I didn't do anything. You were the one that kissed Olivers, Orion's and Oscars." Bonnie huffed, shaking her head in disbelief. It was hard to keep the tears in. It was like having a paper dam trying to stop a current of water. She averted her eyes, trying to shake the teardrops away. "But I forgive you. I mean, I accidentally siphoned off you and I forgot to say sorry. But don't worry, I am making plans that will stop that. I actually have a witch that—"
"Stop," Bonnie rasped the order. He was slowly making his way towards her and she knew that once his warmth enveloped her, she wouldn't be able to resist. "Stop. I don't care anymore." A lie. "I can't even trust you anymore. And if you really prioritized my health, you would step back. Because you're driving me crazy."
Kai clenched his fists, sacked with dry blood. "Fine. I'll give you a break. But you promise you'll come back?"
Bonnie swallowed, nodding continuously. She couldn't tell if she was lying or not.
