Day and night blended into each other and Bonnie had pushed the bed against the door. It took a lot of energy she built back up and she spent the day contemplating in the room. By now, Valerie would have either suffered the consequences of the spell, her three friends were either dead or Elena did indeed return. The thought of it all made her want to scream because she didn't know. Bonnie wondered if she should try to beg Kai to at least try and get the intel but after their dispute...she wasn't sure.

When night fell, Bonnie took a searing hot shower, later emerging with the cotton black and red checkered pants along with a black tank top. She was starting to feel a cabin vibe and she pondered where exactly had Kai brought her. Bonnie's stomach grumbled, demanding food and on cue, there was a knocking at the door. "Dinner is served. I know you probably don't want to see my stupidly handsome face as we eat right now so I brought it to you. It's right at the door."

She waited for his footsteps to fade before she angled the bed away. Bonnie opened the door as quietly as she could and crouched to retrieve the bowl of hot chili soup. Once she placed everything back in order, she sat on the bed and downed the delicious soup in seconds. She wanted more but she knew that it would mean calling him or opening the door. Both of which she did not want to do. So Bonnie placed the bowl aside and stared at the ceiling. Hours ticked by and she couldn't handle the silence anymore.

Bonnie opened the door, emerging in a dark hallway that led to a lit-up room. Once she reached the lip of the hallways, the first thing she realized was the crackling live fireplace to her left. Two chairs, angled, faced it and a bear rug sat between them. The wall structure was the same as the room, only deer, elk and moose heads decked the walls. In the middle was an old-looking piano and to her right was the kitchen and dining table. Near the far right corner were mini plush chairs and a small coffee table, which Kai was sitting at.

Bonnie's eyes fell to the two windows, on both sides of the door, and they widened. The snow was falling, already 10 thick centimetres. Without even knowing, she approached the window, touching the cold glass pane. Kai noticed this, eyes tracking her every move until Bonnie turned to him. "You know, holding somebody hostage when Christmas is one week away is not going to get you on Santa's good list."

Kai huffed, turning back to the papers that Bonnie now noticed. She took steps close, wondering why she was so invested in whatever research he was doing. If it had anything to do with her friends... "You and I both know that I'm definitely on Santa's naughty list. I've been a very bad boy." A demonic grin wove onto his lips.

She wasn't so focused on that anymore, Bonnie peered over the maps and notes. Kai hid them instantly, tucking them away by folding them. "What are you doing? What are you hiding?"

Kai cleared his throats, concealing the sheets behind his back. "Nothing--" Bonnie didn't even give him a chance to properly find an excuse, her hands snaked around him and snatched the paper from his hold. "BonBon." He reached for her, trying to yank the sheets out of her grasp but all that did was pull her close.

She had already unfolded the maps, taking in the lines that went through Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas. The state of Iowa was starred and marked. Bonnie narrowed her eyes, wondering what was in Iowa. By now, Kai had taken it back, crumpling the piece of paper and set it on fire. Bonnie turned to Kai, later realizing that he had pulled her onto his lap.

Kai sighed, slightly annoyed. "That was very evil of you. You might just end up on the naughty list right next to me."

"Why is Iowa so important?"

"Nothing that concerns you." He didn't elaborate any further, staring deep into her eyes as if some captivating light was nested there. Kai's hand rose, caressing her soft brown hair and Bonnie found herself leaning into it. When he bent down, bringing his face closer to hers, Bonnie turned her head to the side. Kai pulled away, confused. "What? After what happened the other night--"

"Nothing happened the other night. Nothing that needs to be spoken about," Bonnie hissed, aiming to spring out his lap. Kai kept her grounded where she was.

"I think we should, that way I know what I need to say to your friends. Or are they so toxic that they also decide what happens in your life as well?"

Bonnie shook her head, sighing. "I just don't think they're ready to know. I don't even know."

Kai nodded to himself, his gaze dropping to her thighs. "Okay. But answer me this, what do you want? All you do is talk about them and what they would want but I've not heard about you. And don't pull all that crap about how that's the way friendship works--"

For the second time of the night, Kai was cut off by the little witch. Bonnie had plastered her lips on his quickly. It was like a flash, gone in seconds before you even knew what happened. Bonnie had spoken her answer and to avoid awkwardness, she jumped towards the door. "Want to build a snowman?"

*

The snowflakes had stopped dancing down the sky moments ago and Kai struggled to make the second half of his snowman. Meanwhile, Bonnie was busy trying to perfect the positioning of the stick arms, cursing when it was uneven.

"I don't want to do this anymore," Kai complained, approaching the perfect snowman.

Bonnie had finally nailed the build, taking a step back to admire her work. She giggled. "It's amazing."

"How are you so good?" He genuinely asked.

"Elena, Caroline and I's families would spend Christmas together, doing challenges like who could bake the perfect gingerbread house and who could make the best snowman. I guess all those years of losing finally paid off," Bonnie explained, a faint smile on her lips. They had grabbed coats, scarfs, boots and mitts to try and keep warm. One hour outside did something to you.

"Yeah, I've never built a snowman." Both their gazes wandered back to his large snowball, formed in an odd shape. Kai turned back to Bonnie, just as she threw a snowball at his face. He jerked back, staying still as if he was trying to process what was going on. "Did you just...?"

Bonnie laughed heartedly, taking a couple of steps back for caution. "Yes." Kai wiped the remnants of the snow that slid down his face and rapidly grabbed a handful from the ground. Only when he threw it, snowflakes exploded from his hand. "You have to squeeze it, add pressure to make a ball."

Kai growled, obviously annoyed before he sent the proper snowball out her way. Bonnie tried to dodge the aim but it hit her right on the arm. She retaliated, forming two snowballs before throwing them at Kai. Now that he knew what was coming, he dodged the snow and threw his ball at her. The two went back and forth until Kai made a large snowball. When it hit Bonnie, who was trying to run, she fell face flat into the snow. Kai laughed loudly until he noticed that she wasn't moving. "BonBon?" He jogged to her still body, his hand jerking out to shake her. Bonnie rose, swiftly turning to face Kai and pulling him into the snow.

Now they were both on the ground, staring at the clear blue sky. Bonnie laughed, rolling to her sides until tears streamed down her face. When she glanced back to Kai, he was just watching her. When she finally composed herself, Bonnie muttered, "I'm cold."

"Yeah?" Kai said, leaning in. This time, she didn't turn away and let his warm lips land on hers. It was brief, just like hers and Kai pulled back. He was grinning as if he knew he was a tease. "How about now?"

Bonnie wasn't sure what she was doing when she answered, "No, I'm still shivering."

Kai swooped in again, his arms wrapping around her to pull their skins together. He kissed her deeply this time, their mouths working in sync for warmth. Bonnie was definitely warmer now. But her skin wasn't the only part of her body feeling the heat.
