terrible

Kai panted loudly, carrying Bonnie's dead weight on his arms. He struggled to keep his cloaking spell over the both of them as he carried her. He found a vehicle on the way, dissolving the spell and drove to Iowa. Kai pulled up in front of the mansion once again. It looked the same as the short hours he had been there.

He opened the door of the car, retrieving and tossing Bonnie onto his back. He didn't even have to knock on the door, the door opened to Liv. She was frowning but did not mutter anything, returning into the house.

Kai followed after her silently, entering the home. The second he crossed the threshold, his eyes fluttered a bit. There was something off. His siphoning abilities sensed it but Kai couldn't figure out what. He was snapped out of it when his father emerged into the foyer. "Malachai."

He grinned, waving. "Hey, father. I hope you don't mind if I crash here a bit, I've been on the run for the last couple of hours. You see, this big bad vampire is hunting me down with his equally as scary sister because I might have restricted his physical contact with his girlfriend. Oh, and I stole Bonnie so half of Mystic Falls might be tracking me down too. If a whole army pulls up to try and burn the house down, just say no. I hear consent means everything," he explained, lowering her to one of the long couches that rested at the entrance.

Joshua had a glare of disappointment, hands poised behind his back. "There is no time for pleasantries. The coven is about to rise again and I expect that you and Jo will help me build back what you destroyed."

Kai laughed at that, bluntly amused. "You think I owe you something? That's really funny, there is no way I am going to help you."

"Really?" Joshua cocked his head. "Then why did you respond to the summoning I used with Jo's blood?" Kai hesitated, eyes wandering back to Bonnie. "Ah, that is right. Your girlfriend is in trouble. I can only assume you need my help to wake her."

"First of all, BonBon and I still need to talk about whatever is going on between us. Second, I don't want to help her just yet. I have a better offer for you. Way better than whatever you plan to do with the twins." He already knew his father had managed to get his hands on the children, Joshua was a very persistent man.

"And what is that?"

"Calm down, treat your guest first," Kai mused, making a slow loop around the entrance. He trailed his fingers against the clean wooden walls. There were odd paintings that traveled down 3 separate hallways. Kai looked up, a glass chandelier above him. There were two stairs curving up to the same landing. "This is quite the update from our home back in Portland." At that moment, his stomach grumbled and Kai beamed. "Dinner time. I hope you guys haven't had the Christmas feast yet."

Joshua remained silent just as Aunt Adaline appeared, hair glowing as ever. "You're here," she addressed Kai, sending brief eye signals to Joshua.

Kai giggled. "Oh, it's been a long time since I've seen you, Aunty Ady. How's Uncle Noah?" He clicked his tongue, recollecting the memory. "My bad, I forgot that I accidentally burned his face off when I was 12." Kai was only trying to burn his hair because his uncle hadn't given him a better gift for his birthday. "Would you be a dear and carry my lovely princess to a bedroom?"

She hesitated, balling her fist. One glance from Joshua had Adaline carrying Bonnie upstairs. Kai watched her go, narrowing his eyes. Something was completely off, he knew they were plotting something. It was almost as if his father didn't want to press Kai any further, in fear that his child would destroy what he was trying to rise once more.

"Come, Malachai. The dinner should be ready by now," he beckoned Kai.

Kai followed behind his father, examining the beautiful house. Eventually, they arrived in a hall, the table dressed with much mouthwatering food. Kai licked his lips with hunger, ready to pounce on the meal. He also noticed that almost, if not all of his relatives were in the room speaking amongst each other. The moment he stepped in, all conversations stopped, people turning to him. He smiled at them, stepping further into the room. "Did you miss me?"

Nobody responded and Kai pouted as if it would change their minds. He then ignored them, rubbing his hands together. He pulled a chair back, seating himself in front of an empty plate. Everyone else followed suit, very quietly as if they questioned why he was here.

Kai scanned the room quickly, spotting his two sisters, along with Liv. He also noticed that the little siphoning twins sat between his siblings, Amaris and Thea. Amaris quickly served them, Lizzie not hesitating to dig in. Josie left hers untouched. "Pass me the potatoes, Thea?" Kai demanded, hands waiting. She slowly handed them to him, pushing them into his grasp more aggressively than need be. After helping himself, Kai turned to everyone. "So how has everyone been? I'm honestly here for the family drama."

"We've all been recovering," Liv answered lowly.

Kai nodded, pointing his fork to his two elder sisters. "And you, Amaris? Last I heard, your girlfriend somehow fell down the stairs." Adaline entered the room, placing herself next to Joshua at the head table.

Amaris snarled, slamming her hand on the table so hard, Lizzie's spoonful fell from her mouth. "You pushed her down the stairs." Thea placed a warning hand on her sister's arm.

Kai shrugged. "Oh. God, I also forgot about that. I really need to start cataloging all the things I've done. If it makes you feel better, I think I didn't mean to push her. We were arguing and one thing led to another..."

"You bastard--" Amaris growled, nearly jumping out of her seat.

"Amaris," Adaline warned with her eyes and she sank back into her seat. She picked up her fork and angrily shoved food down her throat.

Kai jerked his chin to Thea, scarfing down the heavenly food. "How about you?"

"What are you trying to do, Kai?" A girl, not much younger than him demanded across the table. "Asking questions only brings up terrible memories."

Kai frowned. "Terrible?" He nearly choked, covering his mouth from his coughing fit. "I'm sorry, I'm not sure I heard that right. Are you trying to say that the thought of me brings up bad memories? Because I can assure you, I'm the best thing that has ever happened to you all. Everything I did create a domino effect, bringing us to where we are now. Alive. Sure, some of the family has died at my hands but...it was for the greater good. It was for me to grow into who I am today, the current leader of the Gemini Coven." He shook his head in disappointment. "It really sucks that we aren't on the same page. Anyways, where's my other half? It's not a family dinner without Jo trying to poison my food."

"She needed some time on her own," Joshua answered.

Kai's eyes flitted back to the girls, Josie only staring at him. "Well, I mean you've kidnapped these gumballs and plan on merging them. I can only assume she's tried to bite your fingers off a couple times? That's horrible, separating a mother from child." He shook his head again. Liv choked but did not say a thing.

There was some sort of magic wave that rode in the room and Kai adjusted himself in his seat. Something clicked in his head. The energy...it was familiar, yet it wasn't. His gaze pinned to the twins, pondering on what he was going to do.

The others began to speak amongst themselves and Kai tuned it all out, the pieces of the puzzles falling into place. All of a sudden, he realized it.

The object, the vessel the Gemini Coven had put their magic into...it was within the house itself.
