It didn't take long for Kai to find the room Bonnie was sleeping in, after a couple of doors, he pushed through the right one. The room was dark, the curtains pulled back to illuminate the crystal full white moon. Bonnie's hair was dishevelled, out of place but burying her face like a nest. The covers were pulled over her body, tucking her in.
Before Kai knew it, he was sitting at the edge of the bed. He reached for hand only to find that it was ice cold. He was almost inclined to flinch back but his heart tugged achingly, protesting at the sight of her eternal sleep. "Come on, BonBon. The thought of not spending Christmas with you properly as you promised doesn't sit right with me." Kai expected her to somehow wake up and respond with a witty remark but that was not the case. "Fine, be that way. We should probably get out of here before the house collapses."
Kai scooped her up, adjusting to the weight. He made for the door but froze when she started to jerk uncontrollably in his arms. It was almost like a seizure, blooding trickling down her nose.
Kai's brows knitted together, a tone of confusion as he muttered, "Bonnie? What's--" Blood bubbled out her mouth and his eyes widened. Kai set her on the ground, wrapping his hands over her wrists. He fluidly started to siphon away whatever negative energy was trying to kill her, hot searing energy flowing out. "Stay with me, BonBon."
The seizing had stopped, reducing to only faint jerks. Until Bonnie gasped, waking completely. Kai jumped back, confused. She opened her mouth to speak to him but was cut off by the loud yell of pain that shot out her mouth.
"What's wrong?" Kai demanded, scooting closer to her for examination.
Bonnie rolled on the floor, gripping her head in pain. "My head." She couldn't see as clearly as what she saw moments ago. The room started to blend within itself, a simple object unidentifiable to her vision. It was as though a tsunami of headaches landed right on her, leaving no mercy for her mind. All of a sudden, things started to appear in her subconscious. First, it started with faces including hers, those of Elena, Damon, Tyler, Enzo, Caroline. Then it morphed into a scene, all climbing some sort of mountain. Bonnie quickly recognized the island, it was where the cure was hidden. The only thing she was confused about was why Kai was there. She didn't recall him helping them find it. The surge of pain shot in her brain again, taking her to when they were in the cave. The scene was blurry now as if it was fast-forwarding to the main part. And just for a fraction, just for a second, the pain stopped right as Kai...Kai ripped Elena's head from her body.
Bonnie screamed, horrified as the memories pressured against her mind. "You killed her," she rasped painfully, crawling away from Kai. "You lied to me."
"What?" Kai asked, taking in the sight of Bonnie rolling rapidly away as if he was a disease.
"Elena," Bonnie seethed, red blaring in her vision. The anger was so strong, it suppressed the pain. All she had in sight was to hurt Kai, just like how it had hurt to watch Elena get lowered into the ground. "What did you do to me?" It wasn't possible to tamper with my memories, Kai wasn't psychic.
"BonBon, listen to me," Kai warned, slowly rising to his feet.
She shook her head with disgust. Another memory flashed in her head, just as Enzo's heart flew out his chest in sync with Kai's hand. The moment the organ shot across the cavern, something nestled deep in her own heart. There was no image but Bonnie detected the overpowering sentiment, coursing through her heart like a strong current. Love. That was what she felt for Enzo when Kai so brutally ended his life. Bonnie couldn't control the single tear that fell out, every pulsating beat she felt from being with Enzo. "And you killed Enzo." There were no memories but she knew that she loved Enzo. It was why Caroline brought it up all those weeks ago, shock written on her face. It was why Stefan was so angry. Bonnie froze, wondering how stupid she could have been. "You got me."
"You don't understand, I wanted to give us a chance--"
"A chance?" She yelled. "There was no way in hell that we would have ended up together, not after what you did. So what, you tried to cheat the universe?"
"I fought for what we could have."
Bonnie snarled, "There is nothing. I could never, never fall for you, Kai Parker. You're a sociopath." The room began to shake at her booming voice.
Kai recoiled back, eyes wavering at what she had just told him. You're crazy, I could never love you. For once, that word, sociopath, hurt him. Kai hated it. He hated how weak he had become in her presence especially because he knew he could do nothing about it. He knew he would never and could never hurt his BonBon. So he brushed her agonizing insult and nodded. "We need to leave, there's too much unstable magic in this house--"
Bonnie charged for him, pushing him hard to the floor with a force he didn't think she had. "You think it's over? You think you can avoid this? You're as conniving and manipulating as they come. What, you thought that if you somehow made me fall in love with you, I would forgive you? Or were you just never going to tell me? I cannot believe I fell for this." She laughed coldly to herself, reaching for a glass cup. She threw it at his face, Kai dodging it. It shattered, the glass cutting a bit of his face. "You tried to get me to turn my back on my friends, didn't you? That way, I would never hear about what you did. Grams was right."
Kai was trying to keep up with all of her screaming at the same time as her assaults. "BonBon--"
"Don't call me that. I'm not yours to call anymore," Bonnie snarled, bringing down a sharp-edged trophy onto him. "Fight back." The object came so close to his face but he dodged it as he did so to the others. She tried to harm him with everything within her reach and eventually, Kai had enough. He threw his arm high, Bonnie flying back and into the wall with a thud.
He panted, pulling himself to his feet. Kai wiped the sweat from his head, "Don't make me do this, BonBon. Let's talk after."
"That is the real Kai Parker. The monster who selfishly thinks about his needs before others."
"How? I'm trying to get you out before--"
"I'm trying to kill you," she said, raising a lamp so quick to his head, Kai did not register it until she was upon him. It broke on his head and he only shook a bit. Bonnie rose her hand to hit him but Kai stopped it with a hand to her wrist.
"You're getting on my nerves," Kai hissed, pushing her back. Bonnie panted, trying to catch her breath. "If you think about it, taking away all those memories with the help of Sybil helped you. You weren't in pain anymore."
"Pain you gave me just for being alive," she whispered.
"Aw, don't say it like that. You don't completely hate me, you proved this to me when we had sex. Multiple times," Kai mused, his goofy personality returning.
Bonnie did not respond, trying to recollect herself. She didn't want to think of all the things she had done with Kai. She just wanted to get rid of him, his face, his handprints all over her body, everything about him. Bonnie straightened, staring him in the eyes. It might have seemed like she was challenging him for something but Bonnie was concentrating. She remembered what her Grams had reminded her. Your magic will always be yours. Nobody can take it away, nobody.
She took a deep breath, raising both her hands up. Kai watched her, amused and baffled. "I told you, already. I siphoned your magic. Now, I'm a bit confused about how you put yourself in a magical coma. Statistically, you shouldn't have even had magic to create the blast. I am genuinely curious, maybe I somehow gave you my siphoning powers through sex? I heard that's possible but I highly doubt that's what happe--"
The grin was wiped right off his face when she motioned for the bed with her fingers, breaking the wood into a long speared-shaped weapon. Bonnie didn't have the energy to smile back at him, jerking her hands in a way that sent the long wood daggers his way.
