"Okay, so what does this mean?" Stefan asked, pushing for the two witches to elaborate.

"We need to stop the spell," Bonnie and Valerie said in union, frowns on both their faces.

"No, we can't," Stefan uttered, shaking his head quickly. "If there is a slim possibility--"

"Damon and Tyler have  no visible indication about how far along they are to death. It's better now than later," Valerie explained, hoping that Stefan would understand what this truly meant.

"Elena needs to come back," his voice almost broke, Stefan's eyes pleading Bonnie. "Please tell me there is another way." Bonnie tried to think of any loopholes but nothing came to mind. Her eyes told Stefan the answer and you could see something break on his face. Stefan took a deep breath, staring between Elena and Damon's face. "Give it a minute." He approached the both of them as if his presence would somehow fix the problem and wake everybody up.

Valerie neared Bonnie, lowering her voice to a whisper. "We might need Kai to stop the spell. I don't want to bother Ric and Jo with the twins anymore, after what happened with the crown."

Bonnie was baffled that Valerie thought that Kai would listen to what she asked. Regardless, she shook her head. "My magic is back."

Valerie cranked her head to that in surprise. "What? When was this?"

"This morning. Noll of it has returned but I'm back in the industry." She felt proud voicing it out loud. Bonnie knew that this meant a lot of things for her, especially her friends. The feeling of being useful was something she was addicted to.

"Do you...do you think you can handle the spell? It's quite large." Valerie looked for a sincere answer.

Before Bonnie could even respond for herself, the sociopath himself walked in. "I hope your answer to that question is a definite no, BonBon."

Kai didn't look cheerful, in fact, he looked enraged. Bonnie crossed her arms, leaning her weight on one leg. "I wasn't aware that I needed your approval to make my decisions," she taunted.

Kai scoffed. "When it is about your life and death, it certainly is."

Bonnie cackled to that, pure amusement in her expression. "And why is that?"

"Because you and I shared some very physical bonding last night--"

"What's going on?" Stefan thankfully interrupted for Bonnie. Her eyes were wide but she knew it was too late for Valerie. The way she rose her brows in question at Bonnie told her so.

Bonnie cleared her throat. "Valerie and I will do the spell."

Stefan made a double-take, bafflement written on his face. "Your magic is back? How?"

"It doesn't matter, beefcake, she is not doing the spell," Kai proclaimed, grinning as usual. Bonnie shook her head, ignoring him. She glanced to Valerie, giving a clear signal that in fact, she was. Valerie walked up to the head of the table stone Elena lay upon and Bonnie was right behind. "BonBon," Kai warned.

"Vinculum praevaricationem," Valerie commenced, her eyelids shutting.

"Bonnie," Kai said with more persistence.

"Vinculum praevaricationem,"  Bonnie chanted, holding her palms out as Valerie had. The wind began to hiss in the room as if it sensed that Bonnie was not at her full. "Vinculum praevaricationem."

Kai cursed, his fingers twitching at his sides. He wasn't sure what to do next, this was Bonnie's habit. Hurt herself to save her friends. She knew the outcome each time and she still dove headfirst. Kai knew he couldn't handle that, not when she had her hand wrapped around something throbbing in his chest. When the slow river of blood trickled down Bonnie's nose, something snapped in Kai's mind. Bonnie was quaking but she didn't falter in the spell.

Kai acted quickly, his hand grabbing her arm. He began to leech off her, the faint red glow under his fingertips. Bonnie gasped, eyes flying open with alert. She whimpered at the amount of energy, magic Kai was siphoning off her.

Stefan snarled, face crippling with anger. "What are you doing--" He was moments on flitting, charging straight to Kai. But Kai had already raised his hand, jerking them abruptly. Stefan fell to the floor instantly, the snap of his neck echoing in the room.

Bonnie felt the power drain from her physically and mentally. She lowered to the floor, staring Kai in the eyes in hopes that he would see that he was doing the wrong thing. But he didn't. He sucked every ounce of magic she had gained to the last drop, leaving only a tear.

Valerie was still mid-spell, totally oblivious to the commotion around her. Bonnie's head fell to the ground hard, eyes wide open. Stefan's body was in her line of sight and the last thing she remembered was the big warm arms scooping her off the ground and out the cemetery room.

Bonnie woke to the tweaking birds outside, singing a morning tune. She jerked up from the sleeping position she was in, remembering what happened before. The first things she recognized were the wood bark walls and the red and black checkered curtains. The king-sized bed was soft and comfy, having the faint scent of a certain sociopath.

Bonnie pulled the covers back, wondering where the bastard was. Maybe if he wasn't around she could make a run for it--

"Good morning, BonBon." She jumped to the sound of the door opening behind her, Kai emerging with a plate of pancakes and juice. "Boy were you exhausted, you slept through an entire day."

"That's after you sucked all my magic out of me," she snarled viscously.

"I didn't take all of it. I just took enough so that all you can do is stare really hard at a candle," he mused, holding the plate out. "Breakfast?"

"You can't do that," Bonnie screeched, throwing the plate across the room, maple syrup dripping down the wall.

Kai didn't even flinch and held out the juice. "I can. I just did." Bonnie didn't have the time to bash the glass of orange juice into his head, she had to go back to Mystic Falls. Valerie couldn't complete the spell on her own. Bonnie charged for the door, fuming. Kai held his arm out before she crossed out the door, pushing her back. "I also can't let you leave."

"Why?" She rasped, gaping at him with a tone of astonishment.

"Because you almost killed yourself and your friends are toxic. You keep giving and giving and it hurts you but they're too selfish to even acknowledge it. I do."

Bonnie shook her head in denial, scoffing. "You're delusional. You're sociopathic. That makes no sense."

"I understand that you're infuriated right now. But what you don't understand is that you can't just go around killing yourself for your friends when people actually care for your well-being."

"I most definitely can. I give my all so that they can have at least a little, I waste my energy, my time, my life to make sure that they go home to their loved ones every day. Because that's how it works. When you can give something to someone who doesn't have anything, it's worth it. Elena is worth it, Tyler, Caroline and Damon are worth going to hell and back. I would do it again and again until I know that they're safe. I don't know why it's so hard for you to understand it."

"I understand that you need to make sacrifices for your pathetic friends but not this type. Is it not an indication that you've died 13 million times for them? Call me a sociopath, call me a dick but you're not permitted to do this bullshit anymore as long as I'm alive. You need to break out of this habit and let someone else be the goddamned hero for once." Kai was hostile, staring dead straight in Bonnie's eyes so she could get the message. "If I knew you were going to be this reckless with your magic, I wouldn't have helped you regain it back--"

Bonnie raised her hands, not hesitating to slap Kai clean across the face. And just to satisfy the growing anger, she went in for backhand. When she pulled back from Kai's blazing hot cheeks, Bonnie was livid as she announced, "No man is ever going to take away my choice, my decision, and my right. And that certainly includes you, Kai Parker."
