Marcel barged through the doors of the chapel, bringing thunder in his wake. Father Kieran, who was speaking to an individual, diverted his attention to Marcel and nearly snarled when he saw the vampire. The pastor bid the woman farewell with a tight smile. Once she left, he crossed his arms. "Let me guess. The Original situation has gotten out of hand? I warned you that you couldn't trust them."

Marcel sucked his teeth, his neck twitching at the man in front of him. He ached to snap the neck of Father Kieran but he knew that his voice was heavy with the humans. Out of all things, he did not want more people on top of his worries. "Actually, no. A new threat is in my city."

"A threat that is most likely Klaus' fault," Kieran stated, voice booming. "I have stayed at your side, Marcel, for years now. I have watched you turn New Orleans into a chessboard but I will not let you lead the devil into our garden. The Mikaelsons need to leave. I am done with this, I am done sitting around."

"You don't think I know that?" Marcel scoffed, adjusted his feet position. "I know Klaus Mikaelson. I was a Mikaelson. I am working on this problem the best I can, Kieran, but you better watch your tone. Don't speak to me like you call the shots."

Father Kieran took a deep frustrated breath but didn't push the subject further. "What is this new threat you're talking about?"

Marcel clicked his tongue, shaking his head. "Not now, I will explain at another time. Is Davina awake?"

"That girl can't keep staying in that attic--"

Marcel was already climbing the stairs, flitting to the room. He knocked three times and waited a moment before it swung open. A short teen girl stood there, hair in messy curls and eyes tired. She wore a tee shirt and pants and smiled when she saw him. "Marcel. It's been a long time since I saw you." She reached on her tippy toes to hug him.

Marcel returned the embrace quickly, entering the attic room. "I know, D. I told you that I had to stay away. With the Mikaelson's in town, I can't risk them knowing about you. But things have turned bad. Really bad."

"Did the they do something?" She asked with a tone of worry, rubbing her arms for warmth.

Marcel paced around the room. "Not yet. They're focused on this miracle baby running around town. But I'm worried about a witch. Have you ever heard of the Bennett's?"

"Bennett witches?" Davina's brow furrowed. "Yeah, my mother used to tell me stories about them. She used to say that Bennett's witches transferred magic to the next generation, the bloodline only getting stronger and stronger. Last I heard, the last one died a couple of years ago."

"Not true," Marcel was now caressing his oncoming beard. "There's one in the city. And she has this weird boyfriend that has magic sometimes. The witch--Bonnie--she--she's--I don't even know how to explain it."

"Marcel," Davina took a wary step towards him, using her hand to comfort the distressed vampire.

"She's weak. I don't think she's aware of the Initial Conjuration New Orleans has but once she finds out...and to make it worse, she's with the Mikaelson's. Now that Klaus is back, he'll want New Orleans and I thought I could handle him with you but those new witches..."

"Calm down," Davina tried to soothe. "I will take care of it. You always take care of me so let me take care of you. You said that she is weak because she doesn't know of the type of magic here? I'll use that as an advantage, we can nip the poisoned flower in the bud before it grows any further." Marcel calmed, taking slow breaths as he nodded to her. He brought her in for a warm hug, caressing her hair. They remained silent for a couple of minutes, time seeping into the cracks. Davina held unto him, swallowing deep. "I won't let them hurt you, Marcel. I promise."

He smiled, glad that he could keep this ember of purity tucked far away from the horrors of war. Davina was only a child, that grew up from a trauma that he similarly had. He saw her as a little sister he never had. He knew that they would always have each other's back.

Eventually, they broke apart and Davina began to list things for her spell.

Bonnie yawned as she stepped into one of the rooms at the manor. She sank into one of the beds, sighing deeply. Kai entered the room as well, exhaust dragging down his eyes. "God, I need a shower," Bonnie moaned, eyes shuttering for the warmth of sleep.

Kai huffed, scrunching his nose. "Yeah, you definitely do."

Bonnie gasped dramatically, slipping one pair of her boot from her heels to throw at him. Kai dodged it slightly, the shoe slamming against the wall and he turned to her with an amused grin. Bonnie shook her head and began peeling off the layers of jackets she had on.

Kai quickly appeared in front of her, grabbing her sides before she could interpret what he was doing. She giggled loudly when his fingers began to tickle her and the light that he rarely saw seeped into her eyes. She tried to writhe away but his arms were big and caged her in like a bird. As sudden as before, he dipped his head low and attached their lips together. Bonnie immediately sighed into the kiss, feeling her heart erupt.

Kai held her close, his skin thrumming to hers and they remained like that, locked into each other until he began to move them, pushing Bonnie gently to navigate where he was going. Bonnie gasped when her back hit a wall and he cursed. She laughed, muttering, "You struggle to do magic and can't walk?"

Kai shut her up with another kiss, hoisting her up unto the drawer. Her legs wrapped around his waist, pulling him close and her arms coiled around his neck. Eventually, they pulled away for air, gazing up at each other in adoration. Bonnie brushed her nose against his, eyes closing and Kai replicated the sentiment.

They were silent for a long time, dwelling in the heartbeat of the other until Bonnie said, "I'm going to try," she stated plainly, nodding to herself. "I am going to try and...think about my well-being before others. For us." Out of it all, the worst that could happen was if they fell apart. Bonnie didn't know if she could handle that, could survive that type of pain again. So she made a vow. She was going to live. For Kai, for herself.

Kai pecked a cheek and she felt his smile against her skin. He finally pulled back and said, "Good. But I agree, you really do need to take a shower," Bonnie growled, shoving him back with a hint of amusement on her face. She quickly plucked her other shoe from her feet and shucked it at him. He didn't make it in time to dodge. Kai seemed to brew anger on his face and he grabbed the shoe that she threw at him. A step ahead, Bonnie had already booked it for the bathroom, shutting the door. She heard the thud on the other side and cackled loud enough for him to hear. And as she stripped for the warm bath, she heard him call on the other side, "Get ready for a date."
