Klaus sat at the bar, twirling the whiskey in his grasp. He was fully aware that every supernatural being beyond the doors of the building was assessing and tracking him. He almost wanted to laugh. Now that Marcel was gone, the vampires were lost, they had no more leverage over the witches.
Klaus was deep in thought when the bartender approached him on the other side of the counter. "Okay, I only came here because I'm concerned about that look on your face." Her hair was a golden ray of blonde, lighter and curlier than Rebekah's. Her eyes were beautiful orbs of colour, lips glistening and cheeks tinged red.
Klaus's eyebrows perked with interest as he checked her out not-so-subtlety. "What look is that?"
"The one where you look like you're a serial killer, carefully plotting a massacre," she huffed.
If only she knew that his daily routine wasn't far from that. Klaus straightened, setting the beverage down. "And here I thought it was my most charming look."
She chuckled lowly and said, "It is." The girl took a deep breath and held her arm out. "Cami."
"Klaus," he shook it warily. Here was when his mind began to pull away from the blonde beauty before him and travel to the other blonde goddess in Mystic Falls. He still hadn't called Caroline, in fear of breaking whatever remains of their relationship. So Klaus picked up his glass, sparing Cami with a nod before turning away.
She seemed to take the message and went to help another customer. It didn't take long for the barstool beside Klaus to become occupied. He didn't dare glance at the newcomer, the one who dared position himself so close to an Original.
"Klaus Mikaelson," the man stated with a deep distressed sigh. "I've heard a lot about you."
Klaus grinned, finally inclining his head. "Likewise, Father Kierran." He had made note of who the delegates from each faction of supernaturals were before they made any rules.
The man held Klaus's gaze as he said, "I hear you're the King of the Quarter now."
Klaus downed his whiskey glass, slamming it down the counter. "You've heard right."
"Well, you're not doing a good job about it."
"I beg your pardon?"
"The French Quarter is spiralling, but I suppose you haven't noticed with all your attention on other pressing matters. But vampires have been going missing at the hands of the sinister witches in our city. Plucked off the streets one by one. And as their true nature, the remaining vampires have begun to seep into my streets and have begun to feed on the humans. Without Marcel around to enforce any regulations, they're breaking. Let's not forget the wolves, they've seemingly begun to attack the vampires as well as payment for the suppression they've dealt for the past century in Marcel's rule."
Klaus narrowed his eyes. "Let me guess, you're here to offer a solution."
"I hear you're looking for a treaty, a new peace," Kierran stated. "I suggest you use me as a first ally."
Klaus scoffed, "A human? The best you can do is throw a couple of threats and scream."
Kierran chuckled with no amusement. "With the disregard you speak of my people, I assume you aren't aware of what we can truly do."
"Please, I've met my fair share of Matt Donavon's and Jeremy Gilbert's in my life, you're only a liability."
Kierran simply shrugged. "Very well then. When you're ready to hear me speak, reach out. And I plan to join this meeting you're arranging, if only for the sake of New Orleans. The witches are getting out of hand." That was all the priest said before walking out of the bar.
Klaus found himself staring after him, admiring the devotion a fragile person like him could have towards such a poisoned garden.

Kai woke to an empty bed, Bonnie long gone into the day. He stretched with exhaustion, sighing deeply as he stared at the ceiling. He had a long day ahead of him. Kai pushed himself off with a heave, muttering to himself, "Time to be semi-evil."
He prepared himself, walking down the empty halls of the compound. It seemed that everyone was out, even Hayley and Rebekah, off to god knows where. Kai whistled his way to the kitchen, rocking his head to the tune. He passed an office and was about to keep going when he reeled himself back. The door was ajar and right there, rummaging through shelves and boxes and cabinets was Davina. She looked in a hurry, rummaging everywhere. Snooping.
Kai grinned and barged through the doors. "Hey, little devil."
She stood up straight, eyes wide and panicked. "I-I-"
"Oh gosh, you're already a terrible liar. First, kill the stuttering, second, compose your expression. You literally look like you killed an old man and stuffed him under the desk," Kai said, plopping himself down on a plush chair. He rested his legs on the coffee table, crossing them casually.
Davina swallowed, taking deep breathes. "Right. I was just—"
"Doing a terrible job of snooping around? Got it." Kai cocked his head to the side, monitoring her facial features. "Now, you're wondering if I'm going to tell Bonnie and the brothers." Her silence was her only response and Kai chuckled. "Tell me what you're doing before I decide if you're worth my while."
Davina cleared her throat, attempting to speak with confidence. "I am looking for a book."
Kai snorted. "Very, very vague, Davina. What type of book are you looking for? Those teenage romances or those smutty adult ones?" He flicked his wrist, muttering a small spell and a stack of books in the genre he stated appeared across the office table. "Didn't you peg for either but it's none of my business. Or are you looking for one of these political books? Non-fiction? Geography?" Countless books were flying and flopping throughout the room as Kai spoke.
Davina struggled to keep up and ended up sputtering, "A grimoire."
Kai froze, blinking slowly. The realization hit him and he found himself smirking deeply. "You're looking for the Original Witch's grimoire. You bad girl."
