Bonnie stood up in alert, the blanket sliding off. "What?"

"The Whitemore Museum has more supernatural objects than are in Valerie's research log. Get down here, ASAP." That was all Damon said before he hung up.

Bonnie threw the covers off her and stood up, Kai watching her slip on a jacket. "I assume that there is some sort of crisis?"

"Something big is happening and I can't miss it," Bonnie said, sniffing as she wrapped a scarf around her neck. She pulled on her shoes.

Kai rose, discarding his chip bag. "But you're sick."

"Look, Kai. When it comes to moments like these, crisises, everyone gets together. I hope at some point you learn along the line that friends make sacrifices for each other," Bonnie explained reached for the door. Kai followed her, shaking his head. But why are you the one to sacrifice so much, he wondered as he slammed the door behind him. Bonnie heard his footsteps and turned to him. "I can't let you come."

"Why not? Scared your friends will kill me on sight?" Kai snorted as he opened the passenger door. "Then can try."

Bonnie didn't have the energy to argue so she placed herself in the driver's seat, starting the engine. She placed her phone on speaker as she dialled a number, which picked up after 2 rings. "Ric, do you hear this?"

"It sounds impossible, I know. Right now, Jo and the twins are heading there right now, Caroline says they are needed. Usually, I would try not to involve them in our world but for Elena..." Ric trailed off.

"She's worth it," Bonnie finished and turned to Kai's confused look. He still had no clue what was going on. "I'm on my way, 1 and half hours from now."

Ric said his farewells before hanging up and Bonnie pulled out into the highway. Kai turned to her. "What's going on?"

"Turns out that Damon and Valerie found a way to bring Elena back after what Rebekah Mikaelson did to her," Bonnie answered, eyes on the wheel.

Kai slowly avoided her gaze, registering that she believed that Rebekah was the one to kill her best friend. "That's fantastic," he said with no enthusiasm. Bonnie ignored his tone and directed the silent ride all the way down to the town. Once they parked in front of the museum, Bonnie hugged her coat closer to her, wiping her runny nose. Kai trailed after her, saying as they entered the building, "I still don't think you should have come all the way here while you're sick and still recovering from Sybil's mind alterations."

Bonnie kept walking, the warmth of the building doing nothing to her shivering state. "Nothing we can do about it now." She sent a quick text to Damon asking which part of the building they were in. At some point, Kai disappeared but she was too focused to even care. The museum wasn't empty but it wasn't crowded either. A couple of people and families wandered around and Bonnie approached Damon's familiar figure. "What did I miss?"

Just in time, Ric arrived. Valerie and Stefan stood close while Damon turned to Bonnie. "The most important thing in history."

"Jo's getting the kids some lunch, she's right around the corner," Ric explained. "So explain, how can we bring Elena back?" Matt and Jeremy were still in town, looking after Katherine and Stefan didn't want to get Jeremy's hope's up.

"Meet the Crown of Mortem." Valerie presented a thorny golden circle that resembled a crown. "The description explains how it resurrects dead flesh and living souls. Sounds like a vampire to me and even though it's an ancient myth, it's worth the risk. We all thought vampires, witches, werewolves, sirens, and ghosts didn't exist until...well everything."

Kai appeared in that instant, two cups of warm hot chocolate in his hands. The group jolted, Stefan springing into action and reached for Kai. Bonnie stepped in rapidly and Stefan only halted because of her. "Stefan, wait. He's with me."

"What's this bullshit?" Damon snarled, examining Kai from head to toe.

"Hey, Damon. I thought we were all friends after I helped you guys kill Sybil," Kai muttered.

"Yeah, after you told her about the tunning fork in the first place. You're still a backstabber, just like we all remember," Caroline scoffed, crossing her arms and turned to Bonnie. "What do you mean 'he's with you'?"

"Sybil was in my head, she would have found out anyway. I had to tell her to make it seem I had double-crossed you guys," Kai cut in. He took a sip of the steamy liquid before holding the second cup out to Bonnie.

She took it and hesitantly answered Caroline's question. "Kai's...teaching me how to get my magic back," Bonnie concluded that they would have figured it out in the first place.

Caroline's face dropped and she grabbed Bonnie's arm, dragging her away. As the girls escaped, Stefan gripped Kai's collar, sending him clear threats.

"You can't be actually serious, Bonnie," Caroline exclaimed loudly. "For all we know, he is trying to get your magic back just to siphon it all from you."

"I doubt he will do that, after all he did for me--"

"After all he did for you? What about all he did to En--"

Kai quickly spoke up, eavesdropping on the slight argument. "How about I help you guys bring back Elena to prove that I'm new and refreshed?"

Ric hissed, "Why, you feel guilty all of a sudden? Oh come on, we all know that this is an act for Bonnie so cut it already."

Kai shook his head. "No act, I just want to prove that I'm not your problem anymore."

Stefan squared up, cocking his head to the side. "So what, you kill El--"

"Are you taking the offer or not? It's a simple yes or no answer," Kai snapped, his face completely serious.

"You think you can come around here and demand things from us? I'm still down to kick you out of my life," Damon stepped up, pointing a finger to Kai's chest. Kai's gaze followed it and he only chuckled.

Bonnie wondered why they were all so angry, Kai had only released Sybil. True, it brought more troubles but the vibe in the room screamed that something else was going on. She just couldn't figure out what. Jo arrived, holding the two girls by their hands. "So what do the twins have to do--" Her eyes landed on Kai and a visible muscle twitched. "What is he doing here?"

Kai waved slowly. "Hey, Jo. How are you? Sorry for the surprise visit earlier this week, I do hope it didn't cause much damage--" One sharp glare from Bonnie had him rephrase his sentence. Kai cleared his throat. "I am deeply sorry for any trauma I've laid on your family--"

It was quick and it was brutal when Jo stepped up to slap him straight up across the face. The thunder caused everyone to step back and Kai took it like a man. "If you ever put my kid's life in danger like that again, I swear I will slice your head like the cheese I make for their lunch."

Kai nodded, sighing. "Message received, sissy."

Jo took a deep breath and turned back to Valerie. "Good. Now run us through the plan."
