Luz's POV;

It was the old book shop keeper!

"Mrs. Helena!" I whispered over with a smile.

She didn't change much.

She still looks a bit young but she matured herself.

"Oh my... Look at you now! Such a fine person you are! Wearing such neat clothes and all... You've grown up quite tall too." She said.

I perked up.

I did..?

"So... Did I grow weirdly tall or..?" I asked.

She chuckled and gestured me to lower myself a bit.

I did as she wanted and she patted my head.

What is up with people patting my head or either pinching my cheek today..?

"You grew up splendidly but,"

"Ow..!" I winced when she pinched my shoulder.

"Suddenly disappearing like that for so long isn't splendid at all!" She nagged.

Well, she's right about that. It's pretty rude and scary to suddenly disappear without a word and come back looking like someone from some action movie who survived being John Wick for a whole hour.

I meekly laughed nodding.

"Sorry, Mrs. Helena." I apologized.

"Oh, no, you don't need to apologize to me. But did you apologize to your parents?"

I shot up.

Of course, I did.

"Of course, I did." I said.

She smirked and crossed her arms.

"But did they accept it?" She asked.

I nodded.

"Completely?" She emphasized.

I nodded again.

She sighed and gestured a thumb of approval.

"Good to know but what brings you here?"

I shrugged.

"I just missed going here." I said.

She smiled at me.

I smiled back.

"Luz, what happened to your face?"

I perked up and patted the big scar.

"Oh, this? Well, I got into a... A scuffle?" I lied.

She frowned.

"That doesn't hurt anymore does it?" She asked, worry laced in her voice when she asked.

I shook my head and said, "no, it doesn't hurt. It's pretty old so it's fine, Mrs. Helena."

She shrugged before saying, "well, you're free to look around and get any books for a dollar less. We'll be closing down soon."

I shot up right before I could walk off to look at shelves.

"What!? Why??" I asked.

"Didn't you see the new bookstore?" She asked.

Oh, the bookstore I passed by?

I nodded.

"What about it?" I asked.

"Well, we're going bankrupt because of it, and worse. The owners are jerks." She scoffed.

I scratched the back of my neck before saying, "how?"

"Thayer stealing my loyal customers! And by bribing them too." She said.

That's terrible!

"That's terrible!" I said.

She nodded in agreement with what I said.

"It's horrible for sure!" She said.

"How can I help?" I asked.

She sighed and brushed it off.

"It's fine, I don't have a reason to keep this place open anymore. The only reason I kept it open was because my deceased daughter loved this place." She said.

I frowned, walking over, I held her hands together in both mine.

"Then keep it open for her! How would you think she'll feel if she finds out you shut this place down?" I said.
