Happy Birthday To Me (Tommy Angst) (2/2)

Wilbur POV

All through the day I felt like something was wrong. Whether or not the feeling was true, I wasn't sure. I couldn't stop thinking about what Tommy had said. Was something today?

It distracted me from basically everything, but I didn't really care that much. It was in the middle of English that I decided to text Techno, maybe he was having the same feeling.

"Hey Techno"

"What do you want Nerd?" was his immediate response, like he had already been on his phone.

"What do you think Tommy was talking about?" I sent it, beginning to add explanation before I got another message. Techno obviously had been thinking about it too.

"I have no idea."

Suddenly I got another text, I groaned a little, but opened it. It was from Niki.

"Hey what time should we come over?" I stared at it, trying to think of what I was forgetting.

"For what?" I replied, hoping she could tell me what on Earth I was missing.

"Tommy's birthday!" I gasped, gaining a glare from the teacher.

I couldn't believe it. How could I forget something that important!? I quickly went to my calendar to confirm it. Sure enough, there it was. Gremlin Child's Birthday.

I wanted to bang my head on my desk. I was a horrible brother. I quickly sent a text to Techno.

"It's Tommy's birthday! We forgot!" 

I could almost hear Techno's loud groan of realization.

"Are you serious?!" there was a pause and then a guilty text. "We're terrible brothers."

"I know" I responded quickly. "We need to make it up to him."

"What can we do?"

I thought for a moment and an idea popped into my head. "I've got an idea."

Techno POV

I couldn't believe it. How did we forget about Tommy's birthday? How did I forget about his birthday? I was completely distracted by the guilt that was overwhelming me. 

"Techno?" I looked up, meeting the teacher's eye.

"Yes?" 

"You're brother is here to get you." I quickly turned towards the door where, sure enough, Wilbur stood. I decided not to ask questions, grabbing my things and stuffing them in my bag. I walked out with Wilbur in silence until we reached further down the hallway.

"What did you do?" I asked, a little scared of the answer.

"I made up an excuse to get us both out of class." he grinned, obviously pleased with himself.

"What about Tommy?" I questioned.

"He's staying so we can have more time."

"More time for what?"

"For his surprise!" Wilbur exclaimed. "We're going to give him a surprise party." I gave him a puzzled look and he understood immediately. "Yes, I asked Dad Techno. And he said it was a great idea."

"In that case, it is a good idea." I gave him a smile, before it faltered a little. "I just hope he forgives us."

Wilbur sighed, "Me too."
