Techno POV

He had been working on it for months, long after it had happened. He spent every waking moment he could in that basement, tinkering away at his creation. One more screw, one more fan, he knew he was close. In Wilbur's mind it was only a few more days. But that quickly turned into weeks.

Techno couldn't help but worry. He watched his brother work, disappearing into the basement day in and day out. It was clear that Wilbur was trying to distract himself, to delay the truth of reality. The pain of reality... it was sometimes too much to bear.

They all felt it. Every moment he wasn't there. Feeling it was difficult, but dealing with it was even harder.

Phil was never around anymore, always looking for something to escape the house. He just wanted to escape the emptiness. The only time he was ever seen was at dinner, if they were lucky. Often Techno found him crying in his room, begging the world to bring him back. But no amount of begging could ever make that wish come true.

Wilbur was always working on his project, having yet to accept what had happened. He couldn't handle the idea that he was gone, not that any of them could. But Wilbur was the closest to the boy. He was his best friend after all. Techno knew he blamed himself, just like Techno did.

To say Techno struggled was an understatement. Every room, every place reminded Techno of him. He could still imagine his shark remarks. He could still picture his vivid blue eyes. But no matter how much Techno struggled, he wouldn't allow it to surface. 

He could manage. He could make it through the day.

Because he had to.
