Wilbur POV

After the two of them ate, Wilbur found himself walking towards the room he had been avoiding for so long. Taking a deep breath, he pushed the door open.

A stale smell immediately hit his nose as he stepped inside. He quickly wiped his tears away, forcing himself to take another step. It was still the same. The same blankets on the floor. The same broken mirror. Everything was the same since that day.

Wilbur swallowed, barely making it to the bed before his knees gave out. Why did it happen? Why couldn't he be there? Salty tears fell down his face as he gripped the blankets. If only he could change what had happened.

"Why did you have to leave? Why couldn't I have noticed?" his head fell into his hands. "I should have been there... I should have-"

A sigh cut him off as another person entered the room. "You need to stop blaming yourself Wil. It's not your fault..."

"But it is! I'm his big brother! I should have noticed!" Wilbur shouted, his tears still falling. "How could I have been so blind?" His grip tightened, making his knuckles go white.

"We all should have noticed." Techno fell beside him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "He had two older brothers..." He shook his head, swallowing back his own tears. "Wilbur... he's gone-" his voice broke.

"No!" Wilbur exclaimed, glaring at Techno. "I'm close Tech-"

"That's not Tommy!"

The brunette froze at the name. No one had spoken that name since he passed.

"No matter what you do, that can never be Tommy." Techno spoke calmly, his own tears finally dripping. "Tommy is gone. No matter what-" his voice broke. "He can't come back."

The pinkette stood up, walking towards the younger cautiously. When Wilbur didn't move away, he wrapped his arms around him. Immediately Wilbur melted into the touch, hugging him back. "I miss him." he whispered into Techno's shoulder.

"I know Wil, I know. I do too." Techno took a deep breath. "But we have to let him go."

Wilbur buried his face in the teen's shoulder. "I-I'm not ready." he whimpered.

"I don't think we'll ever be ready Wil." Techno spoke truthfully. "But we need to heal and to that we need to accept what happened."

Wilbur pulled out of the hug, nodding. He knew Techno was right. "I know."

"We're not forgetting him." Techno explained. "And we certainly could never replace him. But we do need to move forward. Together as a family."

And that's exactly what they did.

The pain never went away, but they did get through it.

Together.
