Tommy POV
He was dead. My brother was dead. The one who taught me to fight, the one who protected me all those nights from thunderstorms. My Wilbur was gone.
I raced through the woods, away from my life, away from the people who let him die. Who was I kidding he wanted to die. It was his way out of his insanity.
I pushed on, my eyes widening at what I saw. A broken portal stood tall, missing four pieces of obsidian. Lava surrounded it, along with a chest. My smile widened, I really could leave all of them behind.
I searched through the chest, grabbing the golden boots and empty bucket. Swiftly I filled the missing obsidian, taking flint and steel from my pocket. In one swift motion the portal lit, illuminating a mysterious purple glow.
Without a second thought I stepped into the purple light, leaving the world I knew behind.
That was six years ago, I had grown a lot since then.
The mobs had accepted me as a king for whatever reason. Maybe it was because I could speak piglin or maybe it was because they were just that desperate to have a leader.
My appearance had changed greatly, I didn't really look like myself anymore. My once blonde hair was now red, flowing almost like a flame. I dressed like a king now, with a gold crown on my head. The only thing that didn't change were my eyes.
The longer I spent in the nether, the more strange things happened. I seemed to be immune to fire, I had figured that out a month in after falling into lava. Strangely I had no burns, it was like it hadn't even happened.
As time passed I learned that I could actually control the fire, but it took a lot of energy.
Three years in was when I grew wings. It was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. Searing pain was sent through my back, only growing worse with every movement. Nothing seemed to ease the pain, even with all the healing potions I made.
Thankfully after sixteen hours the last wing sprouted fully and the pain began to lessen. My wings were beautiful, glowing a bright orange with red spreading throughout. But they were fragile.
Learning to fly was terrifying, but in the end it really just came down to faith. After nearly breaking my arm, I managed to hover off the ground. It took me another year before I trusted them to fly over lava.
Now I was happy, I felt like I had found where I belong. No wars, no fighting, just peace.
That is until one day.

Techno POV
I glanced again at Wilbur, "You sure you're up for this? I mean, you were just revived."
"I'll be fine." he waved me off, staring at his face.
I knew exactly what he was thinking about. It was the same thing I had thought about every day for the past six years. Tommy.
"It's not your fault Wil."
"Don't." he glared. "You know full well it is."
I sighed, deciding against arguing. We continued to follow Phil, finally we came to the portal. He turned to us, "We need to be quick."
"Why couldn't we just trade again?" I asked.
He rolled his eyes, "Because what we want is something that can't be traded. Besides, we could use the adventure." He turned back to the portal, stepping in. Wilbur followed with me right behind.
