Tommy POV

Tommy yawned, leaning back in his chair. He knew he should go to bed and get some sleep. That would be the smart thing to do. Besides, he could get this done later, he was sure of that.

Glancing back at discord, he saw Wilbur was online. Wilbur was going to kill him for staying up this late. He was always worrying about the blonde, especially when he was home alone, which he was. Both his parents were on a date weekend, celebrating their anniversary.

He sighed, rubbing the tiredness out of his eyes. The sound of a call suddenly came through his headphones. He rolled his eyes, knowing exactly who it was.

"Hey Wilbur." he answered, prepared for the coming lecture.

"What are you still doing up Toms? It's two in the morning." Wilbur's voice came through, laced with tiredness.

Tommy shrugged, muttering, "Just getting some last minute work done."

The brunette sighed, "Well you can do it in the morning, once you've gotten some sleep. You can't keep staying up like this, it's not healthy."

"I know." the blonde nodded. "I'll finish this and-"

"No Tommy, I want you to go to bed now. Finish whatever you doing." Tommy groaned, but Wilbur still pushed the subject. "Please, Tommy?"

The blonde reluctantly nodded, finally agreeing with the older's pleas. "Fine."

"Good night Tommy."

"Good night." Tommy hung up, shaking his head. He couldn't help but smile at the man's concern. It actually felt nice to have someone checking up on him, even if it could get a tad annoying at times.

The blonde quickly shut down his computer, standing up to change into pajamas before slipping into bed. Sighing, he closed his eyes, allowing sleep to take him.

It wasn't long before he jolted away. Looking around, he couldn't help but wonder what woke him. His eyes bounced around the walls, blinking. He squinted, his heart racing at the sight of a dark shadow on the wall.

That isn't real, he reminded himself. It's just a shadow. Biting his lip, he looked for the source in the hopes of reassuring himself. His eyes widened at the sight of another large shadow, this one seemingly smiling at him.

He froze, his heart racing even more. "It's not real, it's not real." he muttered to himself, hoping by some miracle he would just calm down. He was freaking out about nothing after all, right? He was the only one in the house...

Something suddenly fell downstairs, sending Tommy under the covers. Was someone in the house? Was he going crazy? Panic forced its way down his throat, coming out as a sob.

Suddenly he wasn't scared that he was being childish, he just wanted comfort. His hand fumbled out of the covers, reaching for his phone on his dresser. Tightening his grip on the device, he pulled it under the blanket. Unlocking it, he searched through his contacts, trying to ignore the tears that were still falling.

Wilbur. He needed Wilbur.

Clicking on his contact, the phone began to ring. He buried his face in his blankets, trying to ignore the panic that coursed through his body. They're just shadows. They're not real, they can't be.

"Hello?" a yawn came through the phone.

Tommy whimpered in response.

"Tommy? What's wrong?" a more awake voice came through the phone. "Tommy? Talk to me. You're worrying me!"

"I'm scared Wilby! Please come save me!" Tommy's voice was terrified. He sobbed into the phone, gasping for breath.

Wilbur paused, even more awake at the sound of the nickname. Tommy was really be in trouble. He never called Wilbur that unless he was tired or scared. The sound of keys came through the phone as Wilbur got ready. "I'm coming Toms, I'm coming. Just hang on, keep talking to me."

"Please hurry." Tommy whispered, still shaking.

"I'm going as fast as I can." the brunette promised. He paused, "Is someone in the house with you? Are you hiding? Are you safe for now?"

"I-I don't know."

"That's okay Tommy, just stay where you are. I'm on my way, okay?"

Minutes felt like hours to Tommy. He laid there alone and frightened beyond belief. Every creek in the house made his heart pound. Wind whistled through the windows, almost sounding like whispers. Tommy continued to sniff, still trying to keep his tears in.

A car suddenly rolled up outside, one that Tommy could only hope was Wilbur's. "I-Is that?" he whimpered, too afraid to look.

"Yeah it's me, I'll be there in a second." Wilbur reassured him. A key clicked into the lock, creaking the front door open. Lights flickered on in the house. "Where are you Tommy?"

"My room." Tommy whispered, his voice barely audible.

Footsteps came from outside the room before the door slowly opened. Wilbur ended the call before entering the room. "Tommy?"

"H-Here."

The mattress sunk as Wilbur sat on the bed, gently pulling the covers off of Tommy. Wilbur didn't miss the tear stained cheeks or the way the boy's hands shook. The older was quick to pull the blonde into a hug, holding him as close as he could.

Tommy melted into the embrace, burying his face in Wilbur's chest. He gripped to Wilbur's sweater, not wanting the man to leave.

"It's okay Toms, I'm here. I promise I'm not leaving." he whispered, rubbing the boy's back. Glancing around the room, he was still confused. "Tommy what's got you so scared?" he asked softly, truly concerned for the younger.

Tommy bit his lip, pulling out of the hug a bit to look Wilbur in the eyes. He took a deep breath, finally able to calm himself. It was so much easier not to be scared when Wilbur was around. He always felt safe with Wilbur by his side. And he hoped he always would.

"I-I freaked myself out, I think." he admitted, feeling his cheeks heat up with embarrassment.

Wilbur offered him a reassuring smile. "It's okay Tommy. We all do it sometimes, no matter how old we are." Tommy gave him a grateful smile, hugging him once more. Wilbur chuckled before hugging him back. "How about I stay with you tonight?"

"Really?"

"Of course." Wilbur yawned, "I'm too tired to drive back anyway. It's nearly 3:30. Besides I want to make sure you're safe." he ruffled the blonde's hair.

Tommy grinned. "Thank you Wil."

"Anything for you Toms."
