Tommy POV

Tommy made his way home, trying to ignore the tears as they ran down his cheeks. He just lost his best friend. The person who was supposed to be by his side forever. How could that change so quickly?

Kicking a rock between his feet, Tommy didn't even realize he was home. He sighed, not even bothering to wipe his tears and he went inside. He was the only one home, so he didn't have to worry about his family fussing over him. Even though a part of him wished they would.

He immediately went up to his room, tossing his backpack to the ground. He laid on his bed, finally wiping his tears. Why did he feel so empty now?

Tommy knew why, but he didn't want to think about it. That would mean that it had actually happened.

Before he knew it, he was curled up, sobbing his heart out. Was Ranboo better than him? What had he done wrong? Why did Tubbo like him more?

The door suddenly opened and footsteps entered the house. Someone was home. Immediately, Tommy dove under the blankets, hoping they would think he was just sleeping.

"Tommy? You home?" Techno's voice called out. There was a pause before footsteps began coming towards his room. Don't come in, don't come in, Tommy begged, shutting his eyes tight. A soft knock came from the door before it creaked open. "Tommy?" concern shone in the man's voice. There was a slight gasp as Techno must have caught sight of him. "Tommy, what's wrong?"

Tommy didn't reply, only pushed his face further into his blankets in the hopes that it would muffle his sobs. The bed dipped beside him as Techno sat down.

"Tommy?" Techno carefully pulled at the blankets, tugging them off the younger. Tommy let it happen, knowing that he wasn't going to win. "Toms, what happened?"

Tommy bit his lip, shaking his head. He slowly looked up, his eyes widening at the sight of Techno's open arms. The blonde didn't hesitate to leap into them, sobbing loudly. Techno held his close, gently running his fingers through the boy's hair in the hopes that it might calm him down.

A few minutes passed before Tommy's cries died down. "Tommy?" Techno carefully pulled out of the hug, looking down at the boy. "I can't help you if I don't know what's wrong."

The blonde wiped his tears on his sleeve, sighing before opening his mouth to respond. "Tubbo's not my best friend anymore."

Techno stiffened in surprise, clearly not expecting these words. "I thought you were-"

"I did too! But I-I guess I made him mad." Tommy held his head in shame. "I only wanted to hang out with him without the new kid. I just wanted it to be the two of us like it's always been. I just feel invisible when he's around!"

Techno looked at him dead in the eye. "You didn't do anything wrong. It was Tubbo who messed up."

"What do you mean?" Tommy sniffed, not understanding.

"If he was you're real friend he would be more concerned about your feelings. He would have asked you if you wanted the new kid to join you guys." Techno explained, looking down he fidgeted with his sleeve. "I had something similar happen to me when I was your age."

"Really?" Tommy's eyes widened. "With who?"

"You remember how Dream used to come around all the time?" Techno questioned, continuing at Tommy's nod. "Well he was my best friend for a long time until a new kid showed up. His name was George. Almost immediately Dream wanted to be his friend which was fine... until I didn't exist to him anymore. So I moved on and found some of the best friends I've ever had."

"Is that why you hate Dream?" the younger asked.

"I don't hate him... I just hate what he did. It wasn't fair to me. He broke his promise." Techno closed his eyes, muttering, "We were supposed to be best friends forever."

"It's the same way with me and Tubbo." Tommy sighed.

Techno wrapped an arm around the younger's shoulder. "I know you don't want to, but sometimes it's best to move on. If he really is your best friend he'll want you back. It's your choice whether or not you'll accept it."

The blonde nodded with tears in his eyes. "Okay."

"But you'll always have me Toms." Techno offered, pulling him closer.

"Thanks Tech."

"Anytime Toms."
