I'll Be There for You (Tommy)

Tommy's POV

It had always been a part of life. I had been paralyzed since before I can remember. To be honest it had never really bothered me all that much, it was just a challenge that I had to face. What bothered me more was how people treated me sometimes. I'll admit I obviously need help with a lot, but I can still do some things.

Wilbur and Techno were so protective of me, it seemed like I couldn't go anywhere without them being overprotective. Phil wasn't any better, but at least he gave me a little freedom.

"Are you sure you'll be okay on your on?" Techno asked nervously.

"Yes! For the hundredth time I'll be okay! Besides you can literally see me from the window." I rolled my eyes.

"Okay! Okay." Techno sighed, finally agreeing. He turned to me. "You have my number, right?"

"Techno." 

"Right! Sorry." he quickly turned on his heel, finally allowing me to be alone.

I let out a long sigh, listening to the wind. It's amazing how much more you appreciate things when you can't experience them. Simply sitting in the grass and watching the world around me was my favorite thing to do. 

That was something my family never seemed to understand. They didn't understand why I just wanted to sit there. They were constantly giving me things, trying to make my life better. But to be honest, I didn't need anything. I just wanted to enjoy the things I had.

Suddenly I heard a twig snap, making me turn towards the sound. My eyes widened at the sight of a bear. I froze, terrified to say the least. 

Living in the middle of woods was nice, but did have its fair share of dangers along with beauty.

The bear began to walk towards me. I slowly tried to breathe, attempting to calm myself down. Maybe it just won't notice me. I knew how unrealistic that was, but I had to hope for something.

But apparently luck wasn't on my side as the bear went straight to me, beginning to growl. I stiffened, closing my eyes tightly. Don't freak out, don't freak out, I begged myself. I wanted nothing more than to scream for help, but I resisted. I didn't want the bear to feel threatened, maybe if I relaxed I had more time to live.

I could feel the bear's breath on my face, I squeezed my eyes shut. 

I really wish Techno and Wilbur were here right now.

Suddenly a whiz went past my ear and footsteps followed. A voice drifted into my thoughts. 

"Tommy? Tommy can you hear me? You're okay Tommy. I'm here now." Slowly I opened my eyes, to be met with Techno.

"Tech?" I whispered, regaining my awareness to my surroundings.

"I'm here Toms, I'm here." Gently he picked me up, holding me close. I would have usually complained, but honestly I just wanted his comfort after that scare. 

"I never should have left you alone. God, I'm such an idiot!" Techno shouted, immediately blaming himself.

"Techno I'm oka-"

"But you almost just got eaten by a bear! And I was the one who left you out there!" he yelled, shaking his head. "It's all my fault."

"Tech..." My voice trailed off as I wrapped my arms around him. "I'm okay, I promise it's not your fault."

I felt him sigh. "I won't let this ever happen again." he promised.

I bit my lip, knowing exactly what he meant.

And I already dreaded it.
