Tommy POV
Tommy ran his fingers through the sand, picking it up and then letting it drift through his fingers again. He sighed, feeling somewhat content. Or as content as he could in exile.
He perked up at the sound of rowing. He looked up and smiled at the sight of Dream coming towards him. He stood up, dusting the sand off his pants.
He waved eagerly, "Dream over here!"
As soon as Dream reached the shore he tied the boat and jumped onto the sand. "Hey Tommy." he grinned, but it was forced.
"Dream! Dream! Guess what?"
"What?" Dream raised an eyebrow.
"I threw away all my armor! Now you don't have to take it away!" Tommy smiled brightly, proud of himself for doing something right. Now he could receive the best thing in the world. Attention, more importantly praise from his friend.
"I'm so proud of you!" Dream praised. He could hardly believe his tactics had been working so well. He ruffled the blonde's hair. Tommy leaned in the touch, craving the gesture. Dream removed his hand, making the blonde whine. "So you aren't hiding anything from me?"
"Why would I hide something from you?" Tommy shifted uncomfortably, thinking back to the hidden chests under the floor.
"You wouldn't, I would hope." Dream studied him carefully. He began walking towards the house, eyeing everything. Tommy followed behind him, hoping for another praise.
There wasn't much in the house, if you could even call it that, apart from a blanket and a small chest with food. Suddenly a floorboard creaked and Dream paused, shifting back and forth to see if it really was loose. Sure enough it was. He knelt beside it, lifting the plank from the loose side.
He glanced at Tommy who was beginning to pull at his sleeve. "What's this Tommy?"
"N-nothing-"
Dream threw the plank to the side, his eyes glued to what was beneath. It was three chests, all seemingly filled to the brim with weapons and armor.
"Tommy."
"It's not what it looks like Dream! I-I-"
"You lied to me." Dream said calmly.
"I didn't!" Tommy exclaimed, feeling his heart begin to race.
"I trusted you Tommy and you lied to me, your friend." Dream said, taking out TNT from his pocket. Tommy's eyes widened and he began to back away.
"I didn't mean it Dream! Please don't-"
"You need to learn Tommy." Dream placed the TNT, loading an arrow to his bow. He shot it and a sizzling sound erupted. The TNT exploded, making Tommy cover his ears. He squeezed his eyes shut, covering his head with his arms.
He took deep breath, trying to even out his breathing. Slowly he opened his eyes and gasped. Everything was gone, blown to smithereens. All his work was gone.
He stumbled to his feet, barely even noticing the tears that streamed down his face. He looked around, hoping to spot Dream. Strangely the man seemed to have disappeared.
Tommy closed his eyes, trying to get rid of the ringing in his ears. He again took a deep breath and attempted to relax. His hand continued to shake. He couldn't stay here anymore, he just couldn't.
But what would Dream think? Dream was his friend, his only friend... wasn't he? Then why did he hurt him so much? He felt the scars on his back sting, as if to remind him that they would always be there.
