Searching For A Song (Alternative Ending)

Tommy POV

Tommy rubbed away the tears in his eyes, shaking his head. Why did he even hope? His family would never love him... what was the point of even sticking around?

"Tommy?"

Tommy looked up, meeting Sam's concerned eyes. "Oh hey Sam, sorry I didn't see you there." He took a deep breath, trying to collect himself. Part of him believed he was just overreacting like always.

"Are you alright Tommy?" Sam questioned, moving closer to the crying prince.

Tommy nodded, trying to smile. But it was too hard, he just had too many emotions crowding his head. "I-I can't do this anymore Sam." his voice shook as the tears began coming once more. What he said was true. He was getting to his breaking point and he wasn't sure how much more he could take.

Sam nodded understandingly, "You don't deserve the way they've been treating you."

Tommy laughed, shaking his head. "I mean, maybe I do deserve it." He looked towards the man, tears in his eyes. "I deserve it... don't I?"

"You don't deserve it!" Sam exclaimed, loudly. He clenched his fists, his blood beginning to boil. "You don't deserve it all!"

Tommy looked at him in surprise. Since when had Sam cared so much?

"You deserve people who love you and appreciate you for who you are! You shouldn't be blamed for something that wasn't your fault!" Sam shook his head, pacing back and forth as he attempted to calm down. "You were just the easiest to blame... You were just a kid." 

Tommy stood up. "Sam, it's okay... there's nothing you can-"

"It's not okay though!" Sam shouted, he looked at Tommy with glassy eyes. "You should just run away, live the life you actually deserve instead of being trapped in this prison."

The blonde stood frozen for a moment, trying to process what Sam just said. "Run away?" he repeated, the words almost too quiet to hear. "But what about-"

"They won't realize what they had until you're gone."

Tommy bit his lip, glancing towards the window. "But what about you?" he asked. "The king will punish you, he'll strip you of your title."

Sam chuckled, shaking his head. "It's worth it, if you're happy."

Tommy looked at him and suddenly he was running into his arms, tackling the man into a hug. Sam took a step back, surprised by the sudden embrace. It only took a moment for him to wrap his arms around the young boy. The blonde leaned into the man, enjoying the feeling of safety. A thought crossed his mind as he pulled out of the hug. "Come with me."

Sam looked down at him. "I-I can't Tommy I-"

"It was your idea in the first place." Tommy reminded him, biting his lip. "I don't want to leave you here. You don't deserve the blame."

"Tommy I-"

"I'm the prince, you have to obey me." Tommy smirked, showing a glint of his childish humor. He held his hand out to the man, moving towards the window. "Are you going to refuse an order of your prince?"

Sam laughed, a grin forming on his face. He stepped towards the boy, taking his hand. 

"I guess I have no choice but to go with you."
