Tommy POV
Tommy sighed, leaning against the wall as he curled in on himself. Why did he have to be alone on Christmas? It was supposed to be about family and yet his family was no where to be seen. He closed his eyes, wishing for one more time that someone would be there. Anyone, just someone who cared about him.
Taking a deep breath, Tommy finally stood up, deciding to just make the most of it. At least he could try to enjoy the holiday. He steered himself to the kitchen, putting some milk into a pan on the stove. Maybe hot chocolate would make him feel better. At least it would make him feel warm.
He sighed, sinking into the couch. He flipped the channel to a random Christmas movie, closing his eyes for a moment. He blinked, trying to keep the tears away. It was okay to be alone. He didn't need to get upset about it.
Buzzing suddenly came from his pocket. Sniffing, he took his phone out of his pocket, surprised to see Wilbur calling him. What would Wilbur want? Putting on a fake smile, he accepted the call, knowing Wilbur would worry if he declined.
"Tommy! Merry Christmas!" Wilbur exclaimed, a bright smile on his face.
"Merry Christmas Wilbur." I grinned, trying to make my voice sound more excited. Somehow I couldn't get the dullness out of my voice.
Immediately concern washed over the brunette, Tommy could tell by the change in tone. "You okay Tommy?"
"Of course big man!"
Wilbur paused, as if he concerned pushing it before letting it go. "Guess who else is here?"
"Who?" Tommy questioned, a sliver of excitement falling into his voice.
Two figures came into the frame and almost immediately a grin spread on Tommy's face.
"No way!" the blonde shouted, a new sparkle in his eyes. "When did you guys get there?"
The trio chuckled at his reaction. Wilbur smiled, "They flew in last night. I figured we could have a sleepy boy Christmas!"
Techno's voice came through the phone, as monotone as usual. "But we're missing one member..."
"We thought you might be able to help with that." Phil added.
Tommy felt his heart swell. Maybe his wish was actually coming true. "Really?"
"Of course! What would we do without the gremlin child? You complete us!" Wilbur laughed, his eyes filled with excitement. "Now you obviously have to ask your parents-"
Immediately Tommy's eyes dropped as a wave of sadness crashed into him. If only his parents were around to ask. But of course they were on a business trip, like always. With no thought of their son.
"-ommy?"
Tommy glanced back at the screen, immediately met with three concerned faces.
"You alright Toms?" Phil questioned, eyeing him carefully.
"Yeah, sorry. I uh- forgot that my hot chocolate is ready." Tommy laughed nervously, knowing they would be furious if they found out his parents weren't there. "I'll go ask my parents-" he began, even though he had no intention of doing such a thing.
"Are you alone Tommy?" this time it was Techno who spoke.
"No!" Tommy panicked, his heart hammering. "They're just in their room-"
"Tommy." Wilbur's voice was stern, but filled with so much concern.
Tommy couldn't lie to Wilbur, he had never been able to. He remained silent, biting his lip so hard that it drew blood. "What?" he spoke barely above a whisper.
"Are you all alone?"
Tommy couldn't deny it anymore. The tears slipped through his eyes as he slowly nodded.
Immediately Wilbur's face changed, his eyes turning to fury. He stood up, turning back to Tommy with a soft gaze. "We're coming to get you and you're staying with us."
"What? No-o I-I can't- I don't want to intrude-"
"It's not a choice." Techno said sternly.
"You deserve to be with your family." Phil smiled sadly. "So we're bringing you home."
"They'll be so mad! I-"
"We'll they won't be getting you back." Wilbur growled. "Let them try. But they won't be getting through your big brothers."
Tommy felt the tears well up in his eyes once more when he realized his wish was coming true. He won't be alone that day... maybe never again.
Wilbur grabbed his keys, looking back at the phone in his hand. "Pack everything you need, we'll be there in a little bit."
Tommy nodded before hanging up. He stood up, a new smile on his face. Glancing towards the stove, he remembered his hot chocolate. It was still in the pan, sitting untouched. He chuckled, pouring it into a mug and adding the chocolate.
He drank it with a bright smile on his face. He could barely sit still long enough to drink it. Once he was finished, he added the cup to the sink before running to his room. He packed everything he would need in a small bag. Then he sat by the door, still not able to wipe the grin off his face.
What felt like an hour went by, but then he saw Wilbur's car pull up. Wilbur jumped out of his car and dashed towards the front door. He barely had a chance to knock on the door before Tommy tackled him in a hug.
Wilbur nearly fell over, quickly regaining his balance before hugging back. Tommy buried his face in the man's sweater, enjoying the amount of safety it supplied. "I'm so happy to see you." he murmured.
Wilbur smiled, ruffling the boy's hair. "I'm glad to see you too Toms." Gently he pulled away, not missing the sad look Tommy gave him. "Is this everything you need?" He glanced around the living room, his eyes wide. "Where are all the Christmas decorations?"
Tommy sighed, playing with the strap on his bag. "We don't really have any..."
Wilbur wrapped an arm around the boy, bringing him into another hug. "Well just you wait, you'll be sick of Christmas at my house."
Tommy smiled, looking up at the older. "Thank you Wil."
"Of course Tommy."
The drive was filled with laughter and jokes, along with the occasionally singing to a song they both knew. What was twenty minutes really only felt like five minutes. Tommy was a little sad it ended so soon. But that disappointment was quickly changed into joy when the house came into view.
As soon as they got to Wilbur's house Tommy was immediately engulfed in a hug. Phil held him close. "Hey Toms."
Tommy smiled, hugging him back. "Hey Phil." They stayed in each other's embrace before reluctantly letting go. Tommy stepped into the house, surprised to see Techno standing there. "Hey-" he was again tackled in a hug, somehow even tighter than Wilbur and Phil's. Tommy quickly melted into his embrace, a bright smile on his face.
"I'm sorry you're parents are like that." Techno whispered, his chin resting on the boy's head. "You don't deserve to be alone on Christmas."
"At least I can be with my family." Tommy grinned, pulling back.
