Note- This takes place in real life
Phil POV (1st)
Techno had been pestering me about wanting a brother for the past week. I had adopted him nearly a year ago and we were as happy as can be. We had grown very close, sharing a hobby of fencing.
Of course, I was a bit unsure of adopting another kid. I wasn't sure if I could handle another, but at the same time I couldn't help but feel like something was missing in our family. So after a lot of consideration I agreed.
So here we were, driving to the adoption center.
"Why do you want a brother again?" I asked, hoping to spark a conversation.
"I don't know. I just thought it might be nice to have one." he shrugged, playing on his phone.
"You know what that means. It means your going to have to be a responsible big brother. Are you sure your up for that?" I questioned, glancing at him out of the corner of my eye.
"How hard can it be?"
I chuckled, but said nothing.
Upon arriving I couldn't help but think about the day I adopted Techno. Its hard to imagine my life without my son. In a way he needed me and I needed him. Hopefully we could find someone who would fit into our little family.
I jumped out of the car, Techno following. I could tell he wasn't happy about returning simply by the way he stiffened. I rested my hand on his shoulder. "I'm not leaving you here."
He nodded, though I could tell he was skeptical.
We entered the building. I was surprised not to see anyone at the front desk. I decided to sit while we waited, studying the room. Techno sat beside me, tapping his foot nervously.
Suddenly shouting was heard followed by running. I looked up to see a young kid being chased by older boys. He seemed terrified by them, like he was running for his life.
The boy had curly brown hair and charcoal colored eyes. He wore a beanie that was immediately grabbed by one of the kids. The boy protested before being shoved back.
Before I could even move Techno was on his feet, rushing to help the poor boy. He stood in front of him protectively, shouting , "Leave him alone."
Because of his size and glare, the boys ran off. I raced over, looking down at the young boy. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah." he nodded, adjusting his beanie back to his head.
"What is going on here?" a woman ran over, glaring at the boy. Behind her one of the bullies appeared to be crying. "William what did you do?"
"Nothing-"
"Liar! Timothy reports you were bullying him." she yelled, causing the boy to flinch.
"Please-" his eyes widened in fear.
That's when I stepped in. I wasn't about to let this kid take all the blame. "He didn't do anything Miss."
"And who are you?"
"I'm the man who's here to adopt this boy." I folded my arms, hardly believing the words I was speaking. Did I really just say that?
Techno still stood in front of the boy, shielding him from the woman. His glare was threatening, if looks could kill she would be dead.
"Oh you don't want this boy." she said, attempting to come up with an excuse.
"I think I do. Now bring me the papers." I demanded. I wasn't about to back down.
She huffed, walking towards the front desk.
"Techno go help him with his stuff." I whispered to my son.
He nodded, following the young boy.

Wilbur POV (1st)
Did he really just say that? Was I really getting adopted? I couldn't believe it. No more bullying... or punishments. It was almost too good to be true.
I ran back to my room with the other boy. He was a bit scary, but seemed alright. He was protective, like my own personal shield.
"What's your name kid?" he asked as we came to the room.
"Wilbur."
"Techno."
What a strange name, but I wasn't going to hold it against him. I could deal with strange names. I grabbed my things, which weren't much and went to the door.
"Want help with that?" he offered.
I hesitated. Was this a trick. "You won't take it?"
"Of course not. I don't want your things Nerd." he chuckled, making me giggle. I liked this boy. I gave him my bag, entering the hallway. I hid behind him, which he didn't seem to mind.
We came to the lobby to find the man yelling at Nancy. I covered my ears immediately. I didn't like yelling, especially when it had to do with me. It usually resulted in a punishment.
Techno noticed, kneeling beside me. "It's okay Wilbur. We're going to take you away from this."
I hugged him, feeling him stiffen with surprise. No one had ever adopted me. I couldn't help but feel grateful. He wrapped his arms around me, offering soft words. His grip on me tightened as the yelling finally stopped.
A hand came on my shoulder, making me flinch. I looked up to see the man who adopted me.
"I'm Phil."
"Wilbur." I whispered as Techno loosened his grip, but still held me close.
"Welcome to the family Wilbur."
The words felt like Heaven. I had a family, something I had only dreamed of.
