Fifth period was over and the end of the day had arrived which meant the weekend was finally here. I wasn't overly excited for Steve's party tonight but seeing Eddie might be the bonus for the night.
I walked out of biology infront of Eddie who placed his hands on my waist and whispered into my ear. "I'll see you tonight, Cassidy."
I watched as he walked away with a skip in his step, slowly becoming surrounded by his friends as they passed mine, who held displeased expressions on their faces at my previous encounter.
"You'll catch flies if you keep your mouth open any longer, boys." I said to the pair as I passed them, patting them on the shoulders and walking into the car park towards Steve's car.
"Will you ever listen-"
"No." I cut Steve off before he even had a chance to try and criticise me for my choice of acquaintances, waiting by his car until he unlocked the doors and let me in the back.
"Are you going to wait for me and Carol whilst we get ready?" Tommy asked Steve from besides me, leaning in between the drivers and passenger seat as Steve set off.
I focused on the road as the four of them chatted away about god knows what, just waiting and waiting to see my street pulling up besides me.
"You've got 15 minutes, Kimberly. Don't piss me off." Steve snarled at me as I exited the car and ran to my door step. I pushed the handle down and opened the door to my home, slamming it shut behind me.
"Mum! I'm home!." I bellowed into the air, waiting to see her face appear from the kitchen. I heard her footsteps before I saw her face, which was way too relaxed because of the alcohol.
"Ah. Did you have fun?" She slurred to me, pulling me into her frame and allowing me to smell the stench of whiskey pouring from her body. I gagged quietly before pushing her body gently away from mine.
"Mum,'it's school. There's no such thing as fun when it comes to academics." I mumbled before quickly running up the stairs to get changed.
Truth be told, since we moved here my mum became obsessed with alcohol. She hadn't wanted to move here in the first place and so when my dad practically upped and left for us, it hit her the worse.
I pray every night she finds herself again, but I know it's more than likely not going to happen.
As I stepped into my room, I let a singular tear fall as the emotions kicked in. My mother always said crying was the biggest sign of weakness, so I refused to let anymore slip and wiped it away, making myself scarce by opening my wardrobe and picking out some leather pants, an oversized, black Bon Jovie 'keep the faith' t-shirt and a regular leather jacket.
I kicked of my shoes and replaced them with some converse high tops, stumbling around my room as I attempted to lean on one foot with the other in the air, trying to tie the shoe laces to my left shoe.
I heard Steve's horn beeping repeatedly, suggesting the 15 minutes were coming to an end and I needed to hurry up.
"Fucking chill out, hair!." I exclaimed to myself, peaking through my window to see him and Tommy stood against the car laughing at something.
Before leaving, I brushed my hair and started to braid it into Dutch braids as I left my room, making sure to say goodbye to my mum as I left the house.
